I’m not confusing height from strength at all, your point is completely invalid. If you can move the ball quickly, can read the game & have good intensity off the ball then you don’t need “power”.

Also Messi isn’t solid as a rock, he’s smart he’s always got his body in front of the player trying to intercept. Players can’t fully commit because it’s a straight yellow or even potential red, which makes him look like he’s bouncing off players. He’s fast, technically gifted & always has his body in front of his man.

You almost never see the great man on the seat of his pants unlike some of our guys. When push comes to shove we do not shove hard enough. We are not Man. City yet you know and its going to be a while before we can reach that level. Liverpool realise that muscle is very useful at the top level hence Fabinho, Henderson and Chamberlain.

You’ve just stated we are not Man City but then used Liverpool as a comparison?

The best form of defending isn’t about grit it’s about intensity. Look at Man City, Liverpool, Tottenham (Under Poch), Barca, Ajax... all these amazing teams are brilliant at winning the ball back not because of power or grit but because of the intensity off the ball.

We will have to agree to disagree on this one.

Reputable sources in France tweeting that we have bid - coaches not keen but board are thinking about it !

must be to do with Mendy being out .... we have probably increased our offer to get it done now rather than June

Yes, it appears we are resigned to Mendy leaving on a free and therefore our long term target is worth getting in now for a price that could increase come the summer. On the surface I thought this unnecessary right now but our forward planning is often our strongest asset.

I think we already negotiated a price for the summer …. we have increased it to get him now because we need him as cover re mendy's injury … no guarantee that wilf wont suffer a reaction …...
