The 20-year-old defensive midfielder has enjoyed a good start to life in Ligue 1, starting 14 matches so far this season after joining Brest permanently from AS Monaco in summer. Aside from Sevilla, Leicester have also made enquiries with Brest for the player. The Foxes got in contact about a deal for this January, but the French top flight side have flat out refused. With a long chunk of the season still to go, Brendan Rodgers is aware of the toll a congested fixture list can have on his squad, which is why there have been attempts to bring in new faces where possible. Leicester have been looking for a new midfielder, and one of the names on their wishlist has been Stade Brestois’ Ibrahima Diallo. There was a report in L’Equipe last month the Foxes were ‘very keen’ on the young midfielder, but the 20-year-old wanted to finish at least one of the four seasons on his contract with the Ligue 1 side after his summer move from Monaco. The story went quiet after that, but Leicester’s interest has now been confirmed by Grégory Lorenzi, Brest’s director of football. Speaking to Foot Mercato, who asked him about the interest of both the Foxes and Sevilla in the defensive midfielder, he said: “They aren’t the only ones… And it wasn’t just for Diallo”.
