On a different note, who's that singer-songwriter from Leicester who is widely misconstrued to be actually half-decent? Didn't he do "When You're Smiling"? Proper dreary, that.

 

Dave Henson's "A Song For Yann Kermogant" IS actually a good City song.

In a bar in Bruges they played his version prematch and everybody in there belted it out, it sounded brilliant.  A lot of our fans moan about our songbook being dreary but most of the time it’s just a lack of singers. YNWA and Blue moon would sound sleepy if the take up was about the same as WYS

Wow. This really takes me back.

We used to play this on Radio Leicester in the early 90s just before kick off in every game.

 

Might be worth letting younger/newer fans know that we didn't have many full commentaries on the radio back then, occasionally second half commentaries but rarely full, until 93-94 when we did a deal with the club. Often we couldn't promote it in advance in case it stopped some fans attending... yes, the club actually thought that would happen! The phrase "THE VERY BEST POSSIBLE COVERAGE" was our way of letting people know in advance without officially letting people know. When we didn't have comms, we'd do a music/quiz/chat show with occasional updates. I'd be in the studio listening to James Porter or Neville Foulger at the ground in one ear and when there was a goal to us it was always a buzz to interrupt a song with: "Hold on, something's happened at Filbert Street." and then blast the goal horn. Used to get loads of listeners even though we didn't have comms - it was a simple time pre-internet!

 

Anyway, sorry for going off topic.
