Thracian Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 is it just me or is the carlsberg in there watered down alot? Try the Swan and Rushes. You'll get a decent pint there.
The People's Hero Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 The Gateway is the place for good lagers and real ales.
Jimmy Posted 6 November 2005 Author Posted 6 November 2005 i usuallyy go to the gateway or the turnstile (now f-bar) but was meeting someone so went in the 1884 and the carlsberg seemd to have been wartered down
Scow Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Not been in the 1884 Sports bar before, but I've heard it's a little on the pricey side and lacks seats...

Bert Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Not been in the 1884 Sports bar before, but I've heard it's a little on the pricey side and lacks seats... This is so people buy more drinks as it is supposed to make them drink faster (standing up) as they are less relaxed and when standing they feel the urge to do something which is drink because there choices of things to do are limited
Thracian Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 The Gateway is the place for good lagers and real ales. Now that's the sort of claim worth exploring.

evs_the_fox Posted 8 November 2005 Posted 8 November 2005 enjoy the quay myself, especially in the summer. been in the 1884 once, probably wont bother ever again. one of my mates had coke, it was either £3 or £3.50... made me feel sick.
Tomassi Posted 8 November 2005 Posted 8 November 2005 Stella is £3.00 - Carlsberg £2.50 - which aint bad i suppose Coke £1.50 - well should be anyway
evs_the_fox Posted 8 November 2005 Posted 8 November 2005 dunno what went on then, but i even checked with the barman. a pint of coke - £3? yep.
Hitesh Posted 8 November 2005 Posted 8 November 2005 Stella is £3.00 - Carlsberg £2.50 - which aint bad i suppose Coke £1.50 - well should be anyway WOW!!! that hurts just seeing the prices! last night....£1.20 for a pint of Carling or Carlsberg £1.50 for double vodka mixer £1 for aftershots but somehting like 10 shots for £6 if you buy a pint...something like that!
Poakey Posted 17 November 2012 Posted 17 November 2012 Taking my 6 year old daughter today, are kids allowed in there? I heard that they stopped kids coming in is this true?
AyewJoking Posted 17 November 2012 Posted 17 November 2012 Not been in the 1884 Sports bar before, but I've heard it's a little on the pricey side and lacks seats... A bit like public transport then
kam6 Posted 17 November 2012 Posted 17 November 2012 Carlsburg is horrible anyway!! The draught in the KP is shit all around!! Since they have introduced San Miguel in 1884, its a little better, but I would stick to the carling cans they have in there!!!
