Let's vow never to be like some Man City fans

I don't think that's entirely fair - they did write some good songs, even if they weren't the best musicians...  (But that was kind of the point with Britpop - local bands and sounds with enough talent to avoid being punk mk2 (unlike grunge in the US))

I usually agree with your opinions on here, but I'm finding this very hard to swallow. I'm starting to have some serious doubts about you.

(joking, obvs, but seriously, I couldn't agree any less with this.)

If I was de Bruyne level, I'd want to play for football royalty.... Bayern would be my own personal choice but Juve, Real, Barca or in a parallel universe if never played for Man City.. Man Utd or Liverpool .....I just don't feel Man City have that heritage a truly great player should aspire to

They may not have the heritage but they have some mega WONGA

I remember Britpop very well, (and know, well, knew, a lot of musicians (my dad's an old folkie) - who all shared similar opinions to what I put earlier, at the time).  I'm not saying it's really my kind of music, (it never was), but I could see it in its context - it was a reaction to the over-programmed dance music of the time - as I said, like grunge in the US, but better :P

Just saying it all sucked because you or I didn't like it, wouldn't really be kind (or objective).  But I remember very distinctly that the real argument at the time was Blur for better music vs Oasis for better songs :P  (And, as I said, this was also from other musicians...)

Yes, I remember Britpop very well, too. I'm not sure about it being an answer to dance music - I think indie is pretty much a totally separate world to that. Like you, it wasn't really my thing, either. There are a lot of songs I do like from that era of indie music, but Oasis didn't write a single one of them. I don't know what it is about them, but they just leave me cold. The desperate Beatle-wannabe-ness is a major turnoff for me, as well as the sad, dated mod image, and the depressing, dirgey sameyness of nearly all their big hits. Even though I never bought their music, I did admire Blur's invention and eclectic work, Suede's catchy hooks, Pulp's iconic songs about mundanity and the Manics' genius lyrics. I just couldn't see any appeal of probably the biggest band of the lot. Seemed so unjust to me.

I don't think I'll be able to defend grunge very well. I just loved it. Pretty much all of it. Still do, really!

Anyway, I hope you understand I wasn't being serious (I was doing a SuperHans from Peep Show quote) - I was just surprised to read something I didn't agree with by someone I usually do. :)

Not when we're talking pop music - there's a reason why BritPOP existed.  The early 90's was when House/Dance music was affecting pop music more, (with acts like 2Unlimited hitting the top - I heard enough of their music at the Humphrey Perkins youth club at lunchtime!), and the wave of British bands that followed was a reaction to that.  Again, Grunge was a reaction to a similar thing in the US, but was closer to punk in regards to talent and production, whereas Britpop was more a 60's band retrospective.

Now Manchester City have grown up with Oil Money and plenty of it they have a holier than tho attitude thinking they are better than anyone else, they’re the new kids on the Manchester block now arguing with Manure fans who’s owners have more money and are better and bigger than who?

They fail to realise little Leicester are also growing up in stature with amazing owners yes we’re not as wealthy but they’re looking after us amazingly, these so called big boys can’t take the fact when they are outplayed by a smaller team who financially can’t compete with the huge signings alike them and when one of there players holds a record only held by the best player in the world Messi  to have scored a hatrick against them Vardy has 2 against Peps side also Little Leicester is the only team to have scored 5 goals against a Pep side so is that Lucky too ?

So according to Rodri we were Lucky the guy is delusional to think that some Man City fans saying Oliver helped us to win no it was 3 stupid tackles in the box well taken Penalties and 2 amazing quality goals, then there’s Brendans master plan of a 5-4-1 formation and not forgetting we didn’t really have a full strength squad a couple of players missing a couple of fringe players in one that had not played in the premier league for 2 years?

So Rodri if that win makes us lucky then I really hope we have a hell of a lot more lucky performances this season in both EPL and European competitions, who knows we could even be Lucky enough to to finish 3rd come end of the season and also Lucky enough to win the Europa league 😉 So Rodri lad wind your neck in stop being a huge Cockwomble and try and be a bit more humble in loss instead of that bitterness you currently have ?

People in glass houses and all that. Every club has a proportion of doom mongers, fifa transfer specialists, melts and hyperbolics on their message boards. In part it's what makes it so entertaining, but we have no 'moral high ground' upon which we can look down at anybody else.........................except Arsenal or Spurs of course. Every club can look down on Arsenal fans.
