I would even go a step further and clarify it almost certainly means it's not >50% from UK, but that was never the problem.  The problem is being the single largest nation source when people are trying to claim it's not such an issue here.

So now we've gone from people blaming it all on foreigners to now people claiming it's not such an issue here. You can't see my point and I sure as hell can't see yours with the goalposts shifting. Yes, certain people will use this incomplete data for their defensive narrative, much like you've made a thread using this other set of incomplete data to push your narrative that the statistics are "incredibly damning". Meanwhile both sets of data are saying there's cvnts everywhere and all I've pointed out is one racist is as bad as another and I'm somehow pedantic. If you want to focus on the UK being the largest nation source, that's fine, if you want to get riled up by the racists on here using the police data wrongly, that's fine too. I don't understand however why that means somehow I have to focus on just this one angle. ALL racists are bad...mmmmkay, that view has served me well for the first 32 years of my life, pretty sure it'll serve me well tomorrow too.

Both things often done in the same breath.

My "narrative" is that these tweets put to bed those 2 claims.   So of course I'd object when your initial response attempted to undermine the presence here by trying to paint the UK as a minor contributor.  I don't know why you keep making these rebuttals if you really just care about all people.

Probably because your narrative is false and the tweets don't put anything to bed, except in the heads of people who are willing to see a fragment of a full picture and decide that's enough for them.

I don't know why you keep trying to make out that your narrative is important for the good of the people, instead of a targeted attack at a few individuals on here because your jimmies got rustled by a couple of inbred racists.

You're free to disagree with me but the lack of hard figures, which I've already conceded to be a problem in terms of validifying their claims, doesn't disprove anything unless we assume that twitter are lying because they have an anti-UK agenda.  I think that's less likely than what I'm saying.  What do they gain from it?

I don't think twitter are lying, I think they are deliberately misleading with a cherry picked narrative for much the same reason you are. Right now they need every single shred of "look we're helping" they can get and targeting the exact same people you are seem to be is what they've decided is best.

And that's all well and good for some, I just find it muddies the overall issues.

Edit: bedtime for me. G'night :D

The people participating in and defending this nastiness?  Good.

The whole "football twitter" scene is extremely toxic and needs to be seriously looked at.

So much of Twitter is toxic.

It's given people a platform to spout really obnoxious views, many doing so while being anonymous.

I think Sky reported that according the the police 34 out of 207 posts deemed criminal could be established to have come from the UK, 16%. That is just Twitter and ignores Instagram

Both criminality and Twitter’s rules leave a lot of racism on the table (and we should widen the outrage to include all directed abuse, not just racial abuse) but I think it’s fair to assume that obviously the bulk from a single nation came from the UK but that the majority, and based on the above, the vast majority came from outside the UK.

Some of the stuff you see on there are at odds at the stuff you see and hear between rival supporters (on the whole).

I can log onto twitter and find myself in that rabbit hole where you see some properly, properly vile shit that people say to each other and about other footballers.

I'm not trying to say that football doesn't have a problem with racial abuse at football stadiums (what happened on Saturday goes to show that) but I genuinely do think there is a massive problem with online anonymity and the idea that people can freely abuse others with no repercussions. I have absolutely no doubt that those involved with abusing Ian Wright will lose their privilege to attend football games but I sincerely doubt that those abusing footballers regularly will suffer the same problem (not to say it never happens but generally it doesn't seem to).

Twitter, Instagram, Facebook etc has so much to answer for in my view. Their lackadaisical attitude is furthering the problem for me.

It’s the same kids you’d have on CoD/FIFA 14 years ago screaming every profanity, insult and slur under the sun to impress their mates, now you can do that anonymously online and get thousands of likes in validation which you couldn’t back then.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s got plenty of older genuine racists in there too as it’s a fertile recruitment for those kinds of causes.

I tried Twitter once. Lasted about a day. You can't argue with closed minded people, and it probably makes up 50% of the userbase.

Understand that it's in footballers interest to have one for personal branding though. Just can't see how it can be so difficult for Twitter to implement AI to sinbin potentially racist comments and then get one of their (likely offshore and low paid, but that's another story) workers to simply read and press 'allow' or 'deny'.

Even a simple, easy to code filter would do wonders. Sinbin any comment with racist terms, emojis that are linked to racist connotations or anything else potentially offensive. I'm sure a Twitter user that incorrectly gets their comment sinbinned for 2 hours will survive without seeing it publish. Better yet, don't even tell them it's been sinbinned. They will sit their smug and then when their comment is deemed malicious they will be hit with an instaban and IP ban (yes vpns exist but how many of these dummys even know how to use one?)

Yes you can, and it can be quite a sport.
