Taking off all the outlets up top, and just sitting deep counting the minutes down. Is I'm afraid, not going to cut it. He seems to be limited in his vision of how to make it work. Surely on the current form you do everything to keep the oppos away from our defence I.e. keep playing football and control possession. But oh no BR reckons we can just sit deep, stop playing and cross our fingers.

Exactly.  And exactly why Rodgers gets justified criticism.  Brighton made changes to effect the game.  Rodgers thought it'd be a good idea to sit back, offer nothing on the counter and essentially give Brighton a free pass to attack in waves.  Even a team as profligate as Brighton in front of goal will score eventually.  If you must go deep, which is a fundamentally flawed tactic with our defence at the moment, then at least break in numbers and with purpose.

I would say most fans knew we'd concede at least once in that second half and that trying to defend the lead was never going to work.  So it begs the question why did we attempt it?

Why make the subs then?

There's always an excuse for him, it's either injuries, players being tired, unlucky, individual mistakes, poor signings etc. At some point we'll accept that the problem is probably Rodgers more so than anything else. We were in control of that game, and in the end we were lucky for a point, they absolutely battered us at the end.

Why is it a squad game, rather than a team game?  If you don't know the answer that's on you.  The problem this season is that our SQUAD SUCKS, for various reasons, some of which are completely outside of BR's control - I really think a lack of proper pre-season with the entire squad, along with the obvious injuries to Fofana/covid etc. has really screwed us over - we've rarely got out of second gear so far this season, regardless of who plays or how.  It should be no surprise to see that the teams with the better squads for individual matches, let alone as a whole, are tending to be doing better again, this season.  Our first team might be better than where we are in the table, but our squad isn't, and another manager isn't going to change that, regardless of what anyone thinks.  Having matches called off at late notice doesn't help anyone either, and neither do long unexpected breaks during a season.  It's no surprise that a player who needs to play suffers most from the latter (Youri).

This league is mainly about squads, and that's where we are.  Brighton could bring on Lamptey and Wellbeck - we had no equivalent answer or counter.  Those two vs Sharky/Soumare? I know which I'd pick.  If we had Vardy or even Nacho to come on, instead, don't you think he'd have used them?

Didn't we spend 60 million pounds in the summer improving the squad? We've just accepted that our squad 'sucks' when in reality it doesn't. Even with a fully fit squad he has constantly made the changes when they weren't needed and it's ended up costing us.

Haven't we been hampered by injuries every since Rodgers came here? Purely coincidence I'm sure...

Our xG for is miles below our xG against and that's because we're being outplayed most games. This is only going one way and it's further and further south.

Most of that 60m was spent to stand still, rather than improve - which is why improvements for this squad now takes serious money, or 'getting lucky' with scouting again.  Daka is a replacement for Vardy, more than an addition.  Soumare isn't as good as Wilf, and as a back-up we could do worse, but you know our defensive woes have done us in when Wilf is better used in defence!  As far as the defenders are concerned, that's what happens when you get a serious injury in pre-season and need emergency cover at the last minute (Lurch), and Evans's legs decide to go sooner rather than later :(   Our squad right now, is unfortunately having to be in far more transition than anyone would have planned for, and that's caused a lot of issues.  Imagine our title-season squad if Morgan and Huth had both been out long term injured without any real time to get any decent like-for-like replacements in!

Just me who thinks this was a good point? Maybe not in the manner of how it was conceded but Brighton are a decent top half side these days and I thought they were good value for a point in the end

A good point because we should have lost. But my lord the standards are rock bottom.

What I find embarrasing is this forum, again underrating the opposition to somehow support their own negative opinions...!!

Plus Why should Rodgers Substitution be seen as poor..Lookman wasnt doing Too much,we needed shoring up. Our midfield has no

strength in depth & ,Nobody who can Grab hold of the midfield....Once our Technical players tire, and Fade out..

At the moment we have no one who can Take the pressure Off...and not a forward who can put the pressure on the opposition Bline.

This has been all season...Until we find that midfield Dynamo ( & Brighton have 2-3 run in the ground players) we wont Balance out

That Center of midfield, After we tire...Then with 30-40 minutes of high pressure, our defence will eventually succombe...

This forum overates what we have, when we have a misfiring Barnes, and for some reason at 50 minutes consistent Lack of wind ,& slowing midfield,

end every week underrate a decent midtable opposition...

I cant Really Blame the bline, they all played decent games, But you cant Keep plugging holes, when oppo consistently Drive through midfield

every week without respite...A guy like Welbeck knows he will get 1-3 chances when his midfield consistently Drive through...

BR ,rightly wants to Keep his Team on the front, But though Maddison/Tielemans can win you a game,at present they cant so anything After the 60Minute

mark...I would have had Choudhury on with Soumare after 60-65 minutes, still kept a weakening Lookman on for that odd possible get out...

Put Chouhury at CB, and Move Amartey into that CM position...

People have BR agendas, others Listen and follow like sheep...

BR has a Good squad, unfortunately 75-80% of our Quality players have been hit by long Term or long Recovery time  injuries,

names on teamsheet, doesn't mean they are Really 70-90 Minute Match fit...Though Team building is nion impossible, we still have

Found/rekindled 3-5 players ready for 1St Team choice....

I am frustrated,  Spurs hurt, Today last 20 minutes hurt, But look through the season , After the First few games of decent 2nd half peformances,

We  have consistently lost The Center of the park, our defence consistently being put under pressure, obvious Basic mistakes automatically programmed

made,with no consistent bline selection...

just because I Dont always agree with a manager, I do Keep balanced,  i Dont see any reason to ask for his near and Dont overate/underate our positives/negatives with our squad rescources..

Neither do I pathetically underrate every week our next/present opposition..

Through any season period, Any bottom 8, midtable Teams can go on Quality runs, and this forum, this squad have definitely not earnt the right to use the word should, or believe we are a Top 6-8 side.

We do have One of our best ever squads, But over 14 months our higher Quality players, havent played once a 4-6 game run together

We have Not lost 1-2 players, but for longer periods 4-6 players, with not 1-2 returning players hitting the ground Running , many also taking long secondary hits..

Can’t wait to read all the posts sticking up for Bodgers because all of the injuries he has absolutely no part in at all. Apparently

For someone who doesn't like the 'head wobble' posts, calling him 'Bodgers' is very mature lol

I wonder what Arsenal supporters think about their earlier match, too :P
