Leicester City’s Academy has been praised for its methods of development and track record of producing professional players after being awarded Category One status by the Premier League - the highest category possible for academies in this country.

I think it depends on how long you have had the status for / probably certain things about the club / setup

 

When Sunderland got it, their academy manager said that you are assessed on a 3 year cycle

 

Where as when Birmingham got it they were granted it on a 1 year conditional basis

 

Just seen this in the article that we are on the 3 year cycle

Never would've guessed that... 

 

Just interesting that I think this is the first time they have announced it since we got it originally back in 2013, so just curious as to how often we have to actually apply for it/get audited etc.

There are now so many Cat 1 clubs it is only a matter of time before the Chelsea’s of this world start moaning about being in the same category as Notts Forest

The big boys will want Platinum Cat 1 status or something similar before too long
