The summer rebuild/refresh

Maybe it's not the players who are the problem

First refresh needed is the manager. Get rid and move on

There are 5 or 6 who we need to retain, the rest are just not up for it

We need a complete defensive overhaul. We need a keeper to either replace Kasper or push him extremely hard for the first team. We need at least 1 centre back to partner Fofana and push Evans for a first ream spot.  Get rid of Amartey, he's just never going to be good enough for what we need. Defensively we always look like we may concede particularly at set pieces and it's been going on now far too long and it needs not just addressing but actually sorting. First and foremost we need to make us hard to beat.

Hope Forest bottle the playoffs, get Steve Cooper, let him bring Brennan Johnson with him, sorted.

First order of business, decide on a manager. If Brendan is going, sack him now vs waiting till the end of the season. It increases your pool of choices because some with jobs may toss their hat in the ring. It's tricky because if the squad is set up for lots of intricate passing and possession - and to take advantage of pace. Brendan's replacement may have other ideas.  This is a significant rebuild. How long will Fofana stay?  One more season? Madders may also want to go to a bigger club.  You have to factor both into your thinking.

Keepers- Fofana, Evans, Castagne, Justin, Ricardo, KDH, Ndidi, Mendy, Lookman, Albrighton, Madders (if he wants to stay), Vardy, Daka, Soumare, Thomas

Out- Everyone else is free to walk out the door.

But out of your keepers, Mendy, Albrighton, Vardy, Thomas, Soumare and Daka are backups. To me, Daka & Soumare have proven nothing and the jury is out on Thomas because he's too small. Loaning one or all of those guys out should be considered.

Needs - a striker and they already spent for Daka, so that's a problem. They could use a target guy. They have to replace Youri - but I think striker is the greater need - along with toughness (combined with skill) in the MF. And they need center back depth.

I'm inclined to sell Barnes but it might be worth holding off if a new manager is brought in.  Same with Cags though he combined a crappy World Cup with an even crapier first half of the season so I can totally understand if the club wants to move on.

I think people are going to be seriously disappointed with how much we have to spend in the summer, if they’re prepared to spend £15m on Lookman as a squad player.

If we spend £15mil on Lookman, there’s no way we’re getting another winger in.

We’re in desperate need of slashing the wage bill and getting rid of players. I think anyone thinking we’re going out and spending £70mil this summer is going to be bitterly disappointed.

An insightful, post which contrasts starkly with those with a long list of players out and almost as long players in
