We have irritated them somewhat over

4-5 seasons. Though we no longer have that right to shout & sing about that title season...

We won admirers & some have tried to copy/emulate our small step of success...

 

The following jumped early out of the blocks, and maintained their momentum into latter part of the season,but with us & Manutd massively misfiring...

A.Villa, C.Palace,Brighton,Wolves,W.Ham,in the end ran out of in-depth quality gas, not forgetting the big boys deeper mental aptitude & strength.

 

Which does prove how difficult it really is & not bottle job antics,  even  to knock on the door & enter 

those top 4-6 thresholds & compete & challenge consistently through a whole season(s) right upto those very last 1-3 games.

 

The top 4 rescources are still proving too far ahead & can parry , a well directed thrust , from those teams

 who have built their best ever squads & competed over a larger part of any given season..

 

Even a misdirected misfiring Manutd, Arsenal & Spurs have in the longer term ,deeper allround rescources & means,  that keep those 'also ran' hourdes at bay.

Proving still a good wide committed,competitive suprise club haven't themselves those long-term rescources that can ford  that chasm...

 

That extra quality 1-7 players, deep within top 6 squads afford a laxing season that can be still won in the last EOS 2-5 game turn around..

We have a team that with 3/4 clever additions is totally capable of getting back into there. In Vardy, Maddison, Barnes, Iheanacho and even Lookman really we've got 5 players who are goal threats, as well as a centre half I genuinely believe is second to only Van Dijk in the league.

Let me tell ye all a small little story, which might explain my plight...

 

Got my arse slapped at my New Parks home,so I could breath my first breath..

Loved school & Int.youth.sport,learnt nature & survival skills  at Outward-bound courses & education..

 

I have trekked the highest peaks,traversed most deserts,jungles, landscapes & Oceans. Machetteted & canoed  Darian's Gap  parts of the orinoco, & Congo. Been told at 66 I haven not long now.Known & met  some great people,made an arse of myself,so many times I was sure I was not of this Species .Then just recently been told don't make plans for your 70th..

Speak & translated technical papers in

4 different languages,got through shit speaking a mix of 3 native Indios languages.

 

20 yrs ago Took my wife & kids on 3 expeditions,drove 5 of the most dangerous roads,just missed out on the

Alaskan long haul ice roads..

Now can't walk 10paces, can't machete my way through a solid piece of Red Leicester..though quite good at W.chair wheelies & donuts, no sorry I mean eating them..!! Donuts that is, not W.Chairs..!!

 

And you somehow think I should worry about the  correct flow on a floppy,cynical football forum, while using  that so artistan language of all languages ..New-Parksidonian..

 

Ah yes English School teachers & their legacies...

 

One day I will have to write a book..ahh No..it would get lost in a lack of correct flow .I really need a ghost writer..

It was a mere joke.   Didn't mean to get you wound up.  To be honest I didn't even read your original post, I see them and think that's just way too long for my attention span to handle. So I tend to just skip.

 

I didnt realise it really was a poem...that was kind of the point of my joke.   Oh well...it clearly fell a bit short.

I understand this has been a difficult season and we may finish 8th and reached a European semi-final, which is not too shabby, BUT at times this season I've been bored watching the predictable, pedestrian pace of play and defending from corners has been embarrassing. I can't remember when we last got first contact on our own set pieces either.

.....this club has already proven that it is not about the money or the exceptional talent that is recruited!!!

The return to the status quo, despite West Ham doing a "Leicester" shows just how impressive our 2 top 5 finishes were, so many teams threaten to breach the top 6 and almost always fade away. The fact that Man United have been awful this season and have still finished 6th just shows the gap we're up against.

Being competitive depends on us maintaining a strong youth set-up, looking at markets others don’t e.g Celtic and  Furuhashi and taking a punt on a few the Big 4 don’t. We’ve shown we have done it before, no reason why we can’t obtain Europe and win a domestic cup again.
