Milky Posted 27 November 2005 Posted 27 November 2005 I'm not joining the marines after seeing this i hope those blokes get locked up. that bloke could have been killed. WARNING: THIS FILM CONTAINS SCENES OF VIOLENCE AND NUDITY.
Blue Arrow Posted 27 November 2005 Posted 27 November 2005 I would like to learn the skills, like the martial arts kick, but... not that way...
Milky Posted 27 November 2005 Author Posted 27 November 2005 I would like to learn the skills, like the martial arts kick, but... not that way... the shin is as hard as a baseball bat apparently. i might keep that in mind. though i won't use it on someones head!!
Head Honcho Posted 27 November 2005 Posted 27 November 2005 Having served with The Marines i personally don't see what all the fuss is about, they could expect a lot worse if they were captured and tortured, just ask RAF flight lieutenants John Peters and John Nichol. It's just a way of toughening em up, albeit very extreme. Anyone who has been in the forces will have gone through the same kind of toughening up process.

So you got kicked unconcious by a superior, while sitting on the ground completely unable to defend yourself as well then?

Anyone who has been in the forces will have gone through the same kind of toughening up process. so you think it is acceptable to be kicked in the head and knocked unconcious by a man dressed in a surgeons outfit abusing his authority whilst on your knees naked and being forced to fight a fellow naked man whilst drunk. if he had caught him in the temple he could have killed him! just because anyone in the forces would have gone through it doesn't make it acceptable, does it? they've crossed the line there, a shin in the head won't toughen people up, it could turn them into a vegetable.
Head Honcho Posted 27 November 2005 Posted 27 November 2005 So you got kicked unconcious by a superior, while sitting on the ground completely unable to defend yourself as well then? Errr not quite!
Guest Posted 27 November 2005 Posted 27 November 2005 I feel reassured to know that the safety of this country is in the hands of a group of neandethals who like nothing better than to beat their naked chests, and show each other how tough they are with acts of aggression towards other males to prove their machismo. If it is genuine, of course. The worst thing is, other areas of the Armed Forces will be tarnished with the same brush. Nice one guys.

I agree this did get out of hand but it is an exception to the rule.
Babylon Posted 27 November 2005 Posted 27 November 2005 I agree this did get out of hand but it is an exception to the rule. I think your first post came across wrongly. It looked as though you condoned what was happening. I have no problem with what was going on before he got kicked in the head, that was just a bit of fun. Not quite sure why they had to be naked though.

No there is no excuse for what happened at the end of the clip, but you could see for yourself they were wearing protection to start with. ....but as Lisa mentioned in her post, Is it's genuine!
Milky Posted 27 November 2005 Author Posted 27 November 2005 Is it's genuine! it is genuine stuff. they showed it on the ITV and BBC news and interview people about it. the tape was recorded and sent in by an officer aswell. it is certainly genuine stuff.

Or it could be a group of blokes with no shame who have decided to discredit the Marines?

Well Piers Morgan found out to his cost how genuine the last set of abuse photo's were!!
Nationwider Posted 27 November 2005 Posted 27 November 2005 Well Piers Morgan found out to his cost how genuine the last set of abuse photo's were!! Made him look a complete prat. Couldn't have happened to a nicer man.
Rincewind Posted 28 November 2005 Posted 28 November 2005 however it is reported, it is still bullying.
Guest Posted 28 November 2005 Posted 28 November 2005 however it is reported, it is still bullying. It's not the nature of the reporting I'm questioning, it's whether or not it's fabricated.
Rincewind Posted 28 November 2005 Posted 28 November 2005 I question that too. But we all know that to 'toughen' new recruits up certain tactics are used. The army would never have suited me because I would have been the one singled out cos of my quiet nature. This sort of thing will go on as the RSM and officers have to show that they are tougher than the normal soldier in order that they can follow orders. Please is a word not known by them.
Babylon Posted 28 November 2005 Posted 28 November 2005 Are Marines gay ? You should see the Navy video.
davieG Posted 28 November 2005 Posted 28 November 2005 Are Marines gay ? I'm sure some are, what is it 1 in 5, I don't know anyone personally, so there must be a lot gathered somewhere

You'd be surprised, not all Marines are roughy toughy skinhead brute types! (99% of em are ) Some of the best recruits are the quiet one's. They tend to be the one's who go on to get a commission!
The People's Hero Posted 28 November 2005 Posted 28 November 2005 I'm sure some are, what is it 1 in 5, I don't know anyone personally, so there must be a lot gathered somewhere Ever heard of Brighton?
davieG Posted 28 November 2005 Posted 28 November 2005 Ever heard of Brighton? What Mark McGhee as well?
