Saudis target best top flight referees

 Been reported that the Saudis are now targeting top referees to join the ever increasing number of players who are making the move to the Middle East. Well I don’t think the premiership have anything to fear looking at some of the dross running the games.

If you asked me to name a good British ref, I'd definitely struggle. Years ago you might have said Michael Oliver, but he went downhill massively, full-on big 6 stooge thse days. Clattenberg was alright towards the end, when he stopped giving a f00k about giving stuff against big teams. Perhaps the only good ones are the ones on the prem list that you can neither remember their names, or know what they look like, as the fact you can't recognise them is because you've never seen them drop repeated clangers in a game.

Shouldn't all you conspiracists be heralding and cheering this? You all seem to think referees are biased, corrupt, out to stop your team just like most fans who have a tin foil hat these days.

 

If the Saudi league takes all the "best" refs we have then we'll be left with lots of other referees who you think will do a better job. Or.... or maybe you'll just go on the same merry go round with those, saying they're biased, corrupt, out for your team.

 

Maybe referees are just... human, in a game which is largely subjective. Who knew.
