Nationwider Posted 11 December 2005 Posted 11 December 2005 Just seen it on the BBC site. The pictures look apocalyptic. Dunno what the environmental impact will be?
Northants Fox Posted 11 December 2005 Author Posted 11 December 2005 It is the blast was heard 40 miles away, and the thick black smoke is rising 200 feet into the air, the fire is still burning 7-8 hours after the first blast, and they've confermed that there are now 39 injured 2 are serious. They've said it's amazing there's not been more hurt.
Northants Fox Posted 11 December 2005 Author Posted 11 December 2005 The idiots are out panic buying again, emptying petrol stations because they think there'e going to be a shortage.
TrickyTrev Posted 11 December 2005 Posted 11 December 2005 I live 5 miles way from this, woke me up in the morning. Loads of twats piled outside Tesco stocking up on petrol even though it is aviation fuel that was lost int he explosion. No accounting for stupidity.
Northants Fox Posted 11 December 2005 Author Posted 11 December 2005 What time was it that it happened? Just after 6am this morning
SystonFox Posted 11 December 2005 Posted 11 December 2005 GET YOUR PETROL IN GUYS!!!! haha . bad news about the explosion though, the worst place it could happen too i think.
Thracian Posted 11 December 2005 Posted 11 December 2005 DON'T PANIC BUY IS THE MESSAGE. Apparently supplies can be tankered in from elsewhere. My son flies to America from Gatwick, Tuesday. M1 not expected the open til Monday night. Could still be fun and games on the transport system Tuesday. Nothing new really. It's always a nightmare going south of London.
Matt Posted 11 December 2005 Posted 11 December 2005 Went to the Esso garage this morning...I always fill my car up every sunday (I was not panic buying) I go to the local Esso garage because it is the cheapest in town by far, and they we're only seeling diesel, there was no unleaded availiable apparently, whether this was to avoid people from panic buying or they we're genuinly out of unleaded i'm not sure.
Deathside Posted 11 December 2005 Posted 11 December 2005 Our head office is on the edge of the industrial estate that has been badly damaged - At the moment I don't know how much we are effected (Head Office is not open at weekends) The building in red circle (centre left) is our head office The Oil depot is circled top right

Train to Gatwick every time, I only go on the M25 if tortured. You'll be glad to hear that flights have only been delayed at Heathrow. Even Luton, which is a few miles away from the accident and supplied by the fuel depot, is running smoothly.
Head Honcho Posted 11 December 2005 Posted 11 December 2005 Changing the subject, they reckon the Bradford Cop Killers are holed up a house 1/2 a mile away from me. They've evacuated the streets all around the house. Bit o drama comes to the Port!!

Imagine what could have happened had it been a working day!
Katy Posted 12 December 2005 Posted 12 December 2005 A friend of mine lives in Luton and his house shook and woke him up when it all kicked off. Bloody amazing there were no fatalities although some people are seriously injured

Nationwider Posted 12 December 2005 Posted 12 December 2005 Wooohooo got the day off schoool tommorow due to threat of "toxic rain". TWF? I used to use the old toxic rain excuse for handing in homework late. It never worked.
