I was in Highcross this weekend and they kept that quiet lol You'd think they'd put up, you know, a board to say what they're building there.

Yeah I went last weekend before I suggested the idea; didn’t have a scooby lol

KPFC Marketing 101: No, don't advertise it to people who might walk past on a regular basis, nobody builds hype like that any more. We've got an INCREDIBLE social media reveal lined up.

I mean, knowing the club a Friday grand opening would see them cock something up massively, Wednesday gives them a couple of days to treat as a test run

What’s Highcross like now? Heard recently that a lot of shops are boarded up but I might have the wrong place

Losing mainstays like Debenhams and Topshop was always going to hurt it, there's still plenty there if you want a coffee or go clothes shopping. Much like the centre in general outside of Silver Street and the Lanes it could do with inviting more independent stores as the asset strippers move in on any high street brand that's remotely struggling.

It's not even really a Leicester thing, the Arndale looks a little sadder than when I moved to Manchester 7 years ago too.

This is interesting...

There was discussion about the need to maintain a ‘one club city’ culture in Leicester and ensure young people are part of the Club and can access the Club and that it’s at the heart of the local community.

City centre full of empty shops, why don't the club short term lease somewhere in town that can act as a small club shop, ticket sales point, information centre etc.

Most Prem clubs have City Centre shop/info points.

They actually bloody did it

A bit shit for the small independent shop in the market but inevitable I guess.

They sell other clubs stuff and existed alongside the old Churchgate club shop. I reckon they'll be alright.

I’m not sure they do and that was a very long time ago, every time I’ve been in I’ve wondered how the shop could carry on so I suspect another City shop in town sends this under.

Am I mistaken or didn’t they have a shop on church gate at one point?  Sure I remember buying tickets in there

There was one at Market Place for certain. I bet it's just this one has moved indoors.

It was teeming in there last time I went, if it got any rowdier a funeral may have broken out.

Yes they did.  I bought my very first city shirt in there in 91 or 92.  I think i collected tickets in there too, if i recall. In those days it was only the big ties that were all ticket (arsenal in the league cup, f*rest in the zenith data cup.....yes a game in that comp was all ticket ).
