So I find myself staying next to Old Trafford for a week, this week. Any suggestions of place to see and places to eat appreciated. Seems like a lot rubbish restaurant chains close by.

thanks

Get a tram into the centre. Plenty of stops nearby.

There's a pretty good food hall at Media City, 15-20 minutes walk from Old Trafford. It's called Central Bay. The Imperial War Museum is very close to Old Trafford if you're at a loose end during the day.

As the previous poster says, Chorlton is good for eating and drinking. Plenty of places to go. If you like beer, there's a place called The Beer House which is owned by Marble - one of the best breweries in Manchester.

Yes, yes, yes thanks for all the advice guys. I went to media city/ central bay/ Lowry, Kargo MKT to be specific. Got some decent food there and good choices too. I’m working nights, so I’ll probably get a tram and have a little mooch about tomorrow.

Pretty nice place to have a walk by the water, blooming cold though and my hat nearly blew off.
