I guess it’s subjective,

I’m sure fans of Bournemouth, Brentford, well managed and well run with a fraction of the capacity.

Fulham.Forest, Wolves and Palace, Brighton still believe they are “slapping down the big boys” with Man united and Spurs in 15th and 16th

He scored but it doesn't hide the fact Ayew is a wonky donkey

He ambled onto the pitch at the start of the game like he’d just spent a couple of hours at the pub. Reminded me of my Sunday League days. Spent more time tugging his shorts than he did closing the opposition down. He was dreadful. Pleased he scored for us but he is gash

As a Southampton season ticket holder just chiming in and chiming out as a guest. I come in peace.

As I said to one of your fans walking back to the car we're both in deep shit but for wholly different reasons.

LCFC it seems got blindsided by two wholly terrible seasons which no one expected (moreso your accountants). Obviously don't know the details like you guys but it's baffled everyone as to how you got it so wrong.

SFC have been swirling around the drain for years (it's part of our DNA lol.). We are a feeder club and we like it that way when it works, despite what other fans think. It always allowed us into the Prem for decades despite being a pissy little City on the South Coast. Our problem is that model has been abused by owners coming in thinking they can be clever outsmart everyone else and pump it for profit, losing sight of the identity of Southampton Football Club using its youth and academy to punch above it's weight and sell on for £££ (and all go to the beach). Now one after the another have come in like parasites and bled it dry, ignored the youngsters so we've got nothing coming through other than the odd rough diamond like Tyler Dibling. He needs to go to big club so they can coach him properly, but at Southampton we needed him ("at 18 you're a man so put your boots on" kind of thing). All hands to the pump etc. I think another season with us though and we would ruin the kid's future by dragging him down to our level.

Our owner Sport Republic has screwed up big time and they know it. Ankerson thinks he knows it all but he knows f**k all, and where it started going tits up for us properly this season was when our DoF Jason Wilcox got poached by Man U and the twonk thought he could do it alone. The downstream effect of that is we end up with a disjointed freak show rather than a squad who can actually compete in the EPL. We've got some individuals like Fernades, Rambo, Walker-Peters, Harwood-Bellis etc but they just spend their whole time on the pitch trying to patch up the f**k ups from the bang average championship squad assembled around them.

Throw in as well as shed load of Managers all with different playing styles (the Russell Martin effect is still kicking in with certain players even now, as they were so brainwashed with it). So you've got a load of players who aren't exactly the sharpest tools in box, tactically confused, not fit enough, scarred by two relegations and a load of Saints fans getting on their backs all the time, and with attributes that fundamentally conflict with each other.

There's a lot more and I can write a book on it, but I don't think it would sell well.

The whole lot's just a mess and needs to be restarted.

Some of us wish Adam Armstrong never scored that goal at Wembley in the playoff final. It's been a curse not a blessing.

Good luck to you lot though. Part of me thinks you need it more than us.

As for the 3 coming up, they're already relegated they just don't know it yet.

I'll tell you something though I felt a bit sad seeing the King Power like that on Saturday . Didn't think I would but I did.

Not because we lost as that was going to happen anyway (standard lol), but because it feels like the end of an era for football in general.

It just feels like the days of clubs like ours ever slapping down the big boys are over. The Premier League just see us as cannon fodder, someone to make up the numbers. Anyone who says there's no Ref / VAR bias against smaller clubs is either blind or a liar.

We were crap this season and deserve everything we get. But I was sort of hoping you or Ipswich could make a fist of it.

Smashing the big boys like in the old days and laughing your way back to the car. Happy days.

All the best guys see you next season.

UTS

Quite an interesting read - for everything wrong with us I don't think your decline ever gets enough attention either and there's never really anything made of it. All feels quite timid and similar to us in that the fans for the most part are just beaten down by it all and almost apathetic to it. But it's sad. You're likely to finish on 35 points in the last two PL seasons combined - a complete disgrace frankly.

I do get fed up of it being treated like it's some big inevitability. I can't believe Leicester (or Southampton) can't compete in an era where Brentford and Bournemouth are pushing for Europe and Nottingham Forest are still odds on to make the Champions League.

One thing that has become apparent this season is that both us and Southampton seriously lack self respect. Both sets of fans have fully dove into the small time "we've got the ball", "we've scored a goal" nonsense. These are two football clubs that have spent many years in the Premier league. It's not like we're Huddersfield or Barnsley or Luton. A decade or so ago we were the envy of all clubs our size.

I think when things reach a certain nadir, gallows humour is all you have left.
