Dude is correct unfortunately.

When you take your England tinted specs off, taking into accountbtge opposition, england were pretty substandard.

Struggled to beat average teams and gave away the semi on a platter

We have been good at beating teams below us even in knockout matches… that’s something we even struggled with before. So that is one thing… Southgate got us doing that again… but we are unable to beat the top teams.. it’s a regular thing and in fact going 1 up in such games seems to make us worse!

We should have done better. Tuchel was foolish. But my God, Argentina had VAR and the ref on their payroll.

The number of fouls that went unpunished is startling. You can watch clips on YouTube if you choose.

I get that we were below par but the Argies were given favourable advantage by the ref and VAR, who had an ex Argentinian club player in the room and didn't intervene in any of the decisions by the ref.

Stinks.

I'm watching the final just to see how biased it is.

FIFA want Messi to lift the trophy. Simple as.

Yep. You’d think him having lifted it 4 years ago would be enough wouldn’t you?

All part of this generational thing where the global audience is more interested in supporting individuals than just enjoying the game for what it is.

The game in terms of world football has been fecked over by UEFA and FIFA in particular,  and they have their cashcows in the likes if Messi who brings in millions and more in global revenue. No surprise they fix it for the money.

Seen the video clip of Swiss team reacting to decisions by the ref. Xakha showcased to the officals how corrupt everything was

Yeah in 2018 when the team we had wasn’t of this quality… I think people are just accepting English players are shit… Kane, Bellingham, Gordon, rice, Guehi… Southgate didn’t have. Croatia were better than us then, Argentina aren’t.. you can laugh and say well they outclassed us. But they really don’t have the talent we have.. I mean we left foden, palmer, Trent.. and gibbs white at home..

Kane won the golden boot 2018?

Yeah. I think it is a bit of a surprise how blatant and obvious they have been this tournament.

As @Leicesterpoolsays above this and below your post, Switzerland, as well as Egypt and England all furious with how the last 3 games were officiated and the preferential treatment at least, or outright shown. I think in our game it was the former, there were no huge decisions but the ref just lost control and let them do as they wanted. But 3 teams in a row isn’t sour grapes…

From our perspective, I guess it was more about what an absolute disgrace they were off the pitch and at the end than on it. I’d love if those involved who play their club football here, get hounded out of the country by their own and opposing fans next season!

Never mind, by 2034 we will have a 64 team tournament to look forward to in the winter (our winter) in Saudi….

Infantino and the Argies really are shits Remember telling my wife before the game how the Argentine players would resort to nasty littles fouls and no doubt largely get away with it. She is only a casual football watcher but as soon as the game started she was shocked on how obvious it all was.

Same. My wife planned to potter round and do bits as she put it whilst the game was on but quickly got hooked and angry as I was about the way they were ‘playing’.

Afterwards, her observation was that they could obviously play based on the second half so why did they behave like thugs in the first half and refuse to play was her wording.

They got the freedom to play in the second half BECAUSE of how they played in the first half. England are good enough to play through any talented team but it appears are to scared to try and play through ones that will rough them up. That's why they only completed two passes in 20 minutes, they were scared.

Yeah, fair observation. I’m not even annoyed they did that as such. It is up to the ref to gain control early on as we all knew what the game was going to be. The ref never had control (or perhaps didn’t want to) and it enabled Argentina to carry on.

All those say England are sore losers I think is not correct. I would guess most English like me, aren’t so much bothered about losing or even the fact they played as they did. It is obviously more the fact that Argentina were so bitter in victory and all the banner nonsense.
