with a squad of 18 - 22 year olds + skipp, choudhury, chaplin, mavididi and whichever centre back can't get the **** out of dodge i dont think people will look at us feeling they need to park tbe bus. I think they will all go for blood....

I'm going to bookmark this comment and let's see by Christmas.

Think you are over estimating league 1.

Like others have said Aluko and Joseph as right backs, Thomas and Coulibaly as left backs.

Regarding who starts it depends on who we are playing. If we’ve got a team playing a deep low block then play Aluko and Coulibaly, if we are playing a team with tricky wingers go for the stronger defensively in Joseph and Thomas.

I actually think in both full back positions we have a good mix of profiles.

No it isn't. If the pitch is really narrow, then simply having 11 players in any formation makes 'widening the pitch' impossible. And I'm saying that as somebody who would generally prioritise having wide players and also gets frustrated that teams never play wingers on their natural side just to mix things up from. time to time

Doesn't mean the wide players will be ineffective necessarily but the full backs aren't going to be creating space for them in those games. Plus I'd also say that based on current personal, success will be determined by how fluid the attack is in terms of positional rotation

'personnel' - sorry to be picky but "personal" makes your comment read puzzlingly. Apart from that it makes a good tactical point.

If most of the centre halves leave Aluko could play there, given in Martin’s teams we’ll have the ball most of the game.

Needs to put on about 15 kilos before he can play CB in this league imo.

On pre-season form I’d have to say Aluko, he’s had some very strong performances (at least on the streams available) and his ball carrying ability has been reminiscent of Ricky P in some instances.

JJ is a very capable back-up/ cup player and if form/fatigue comes into play I’d happily play him. He had some solid reviews from his time on loan.

I don’t have many concerns other than them being young and with a lot of pressure they might have games where they struggle. I just hope RM sticks with them if times get a bit tough.

He might not be Paolo Maldini but Luke Thomas is having a decent pre season.

I think I’ve seen enough of Luke. No thanks.
