Can you explain these bets to me? How come you lost a load of bets but still made a big profit?

This bet of five horses paid out around £81.

14:20 Directas Digger 11/4 unplaced

14:50 Sir Peter 5/1 1st

15:20 Cathedral Rock 3/1 2nd

15:50 Sporting Rebel 4/1 1st

16:20 Shepherds Hut 8/1 1st

20p canadian

The treble alone paid £54 and the doubles on top paid the rest :thumbup:

The horse finishing second cost me £340!

Basically it's 26 bets. He chose a stake of 20p per bet. So that is 20p x 26 = £5.20 as total stake

A Canadian is quite similar to a Lucky Fifteen, perhaps you've heard of one of those?

The stakes appear small, but it covers various singles, doubles, trebles and so on. Therefore you don't need every single horse to win, to make money. If they all win, then you have winners criss crossing and the profit is very nice. However, if you only get one winner out of your selection, then it's usually not worth bothering collecting.

It's a great feeling though when you know your already guaranteed a certain amount from the money already won going in to the last bet, where there could be serious money coming in should it win.
