Dublin is off to Coventry

If this is true, would be a great move for us as it would allow Levein to go out and bring in a striker on loan. With Rob Kelly now in I wonder whether we may try to bring in Paul Gallacher or Matt Jansen from Blackburn.

Not a bad shout there.

Gallacher's not getting much of a look in, so it could well happen. Not sure about Jansen, I think he's in Hughes' plans. Especially given Bothroyds sending off against Norwich at the weekend.

Levein: Dion has expressed a desire to play regular first-team football and that is an issue that we will have to address.

He's going then...

Shame he didn't feel like playing when he was picked on a regualar basis by Adams.

Oh and how can the Mercury refer to him as 'Home Town Hero' he's done nothing to justify the title or the recognition.

Sigh...

Dublin Switch Off

City boss Craig Levein revealed on Thursday that Dion Dublin's proposed move to Coventry City has fallen through.

Dublin (35) has found himself shifted down the pecking order since the arrival of new manager Levein from Hearts.

The former Villa striker has been named on the bench for City's last two games against Crewe and Coventry - with David Connolly and James Scowcroft chosen to lead the Leicester frontline.

Dublin had been given permission by City to speak to the Sky Blues earlier this week, but Levein confirmed that the centre forward was still a Leicester player - for now.

He said: "I understand Dion's position. At this stage of his career he wants to play football but I have made my mind up that James Scowcroft and David Connolly are the first choice strikers.

"Dion is a little bit frustrated and I can fully understand that. He has indicated that he might wish to play elsewhere and play regular first team football.

"It is not something that we have got any hurry to do. Coventry did make an enquiry about him and I believe that the deal broke down between Coventry and Dion. I don't know exactly what the nature of that was but we are quite happy to have him. He is a great asset for me sitting on the bench and he is someone who I could bring on late in matches"

Oh well, at least we know he's no longer first choice...but it would have freed up some money for a loan...

The deal has just fallen through according to the official site...darn it!

My guess would be that they were not prepared to pay the silly wage that we are paying. So much for his desire for 1st team footie.

I dont careless where he goes, just get rid of him.

He's awful.

Home town hero eh? He has enough of Leicester City after not starting the last 2 games - what kind of loyalty is that? And to think he was captain under Bassett, what a joke.

I heard he's waiting to see whether a Premiership club comes in for him..

Seriously?

I'm not surprised Dublin didn't go back to Coventry - Their fans gave him plenty of abuse for the away game, and the same applied for the last game, even though he wasn't playing.

It's a shame because I was looking forward to seeing some wages made available for a possible loan signing or permanent transfer. Looks like we'll have that waster on the bench for the foreseeable future, at least he won't be starting I suppose....

Dublin turns down Coventry move

Dublin joined Leicester in July

Coventry have failed in a second attempt to sign Dion Dublin, with the move collapsing over personal terms.

Dublin, 35, who rejected Coventry for Leicester in the summer, had been allowed to talk to the Sky Blues.

"I've made my mind up James Scowcroft and David Connolly are the first-choice strikers," manager Craig Levein told the club's website.

"Coventry did make an enquiry about him and I believe the deal broke down between Coventry and Dion."

Levein continued: "Dion's a little bit frustrated, I can fully understand that, and he's indicated he might wish to play elsewhere and play regular first-team football.

"I understand Dion's position because at this stage in his career he wants to play football."

What a ****in cock knocker. That's ruined our chances of signing someone then! Reid was even going to match the wages he's on now! Good grief, that's horrendous.

Is Dion on a one year deal or a two year deal? I'll be livid if Adams gave him a two year deal.

Does Bryan Robson need a new defender/striker? Norwich? Crystal Palace? Do they ****.

This man is crackers!

"Then Dion decided to stay there and the reason we've been given by his agent is that he's waiting for a Premier League club to come in, which obviously means he'll have to wait until January.

Ive got him on my shirt because i thought he was going to be good.He is pants in the Championship so who is going to want in him in the Premiership

He's only on a 1 year deal thankfully - but even that is 6 months too long.

I'll be hugely dissapointed if he is sitting on the bench tomorrow after voicing his desire to leave. Stick him in the reserves for the rest of the season now after rejecting Coventry.

I'm afraid it looks like he's on the bench tomorrow guys! I've been in the managers office and down in the home changing rooms tonight where his shirt was hanging (I didn't break in, I work there ;) ). So it'll be Tommy Wright sitting another game out looks like, such a bloody shame he's a great player, should really be given a chance under Levein!
