Ryanside Posted 26 March 2007 Posted 26 March 2007 I think England could've got O'Neill. Personally. MON was on a match of the day or something in the weeks after McClaren doing some match analysis with Lineker and the BBC boy. Gary asked him about the england job and he said he would have loved to have done it but was never official approached about the position. Stupid FA
Manwell Pablo Posted 26 March 2007 Author Posted 26 March 2007 Still better than Manwell's.. Despite last night's fiasco, does ANYONE really want Sven back, even if we are still paying him? Is that then or than or Ultra ? Sure you've got the right one this time? Hypocrite
Manwell Pablo Posted 26 March 2007 Author Posted 26 March 2007 Sven was a twat, he got us to 3 consecutive quarter-finals - so fooking what? If you're happy about reaching a quarter final, then fine, but with that attitude you're never going to win fook all in your life. With regards to McClaren, I'm not going to join the bandwagon calling for his head. Unfortunately I think there is a general attitude around the England team at the moment that's to do with everyone involved, the players, the coaching staff, the FA - the lot of them. It's been there since Sven's days and I think it may take a while to get rid of it and restore some pride into the team. Smiler's only had 7 games, I think he needs more of a chance. Having said that, things do need to improve very fast. If we don't absolutely destroy Andorra with the side we've got something has to change. As I said back in July, Svens no fantastic manager but he's better than McLaren, at least we'd qualify if he was in charge. Andorra it a bit of a nothing game the real work starts in Estonia in June, if we don't win there then it is curtains. If we drop more than 4 points between now and the end of qualifying then theres a good chance Euro 2008 will be sans England.
Geo V Posted 26 March 2007 Posted 26 March 2007 MON was on a match of the day or something in the weeks after McClaren doing some match analysis with Lineker and the BBC boy. Gary asked him about the england job and he said he would have loved to have done it but was never official approached about the position. Stupid FA Yeah I saw that. You can tell in his responses susequently that he would have loved the chance to do that job. I couldnt think of a more perfect person for the role because he is a motivator and thats what these millionaires men need. Its embarassing to admit but world class players like Gerrard and Rooney need to be motivated at international level but seem able to self motivate during club football. Wearing the International colours seems to be an over-rated experience for these donkeys.
Manwell Pablo Posted 21 November 2007 Author Posted 21 November 2007 Bumped. Because I think alot of people owe me an apollogy. Sorry for being a twat but I need something to make me feel better.
Simi Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 Bumped.Because I think alot of people owe me an apollogy. Sorry for being a twat but I need something to make me feel better. I knew this was coming. You couldn't resit.
Manwell Pablo Posted 21 November 2007 Author Posted 21 November 2007 I knew this was coming. You couldn't resit. Sorry but I took alot of abuse after posting that.
Joe. Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 Thank god he's gone. I believe we have a much better team than portugal and Sven should have taken us further, but his negative tactics and poor selections have let him down. Bring on MClaren and proper english football This bad boy needs to be brought up once more.
Cobbo Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 Tis true what man pab said - we never had a problem qualifying with Sven - he just got more abuse for a relitively successful tenure because a) he is Swedish and b) his very public private life. Now he's gone and we're doing nowt this summer.
Simi Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 Sorry but I took alot of abuse after posting that. No, fair play mate. You were spot on. I would of done the same!

Exactly, people in this country are deluded if they think we deserved to either of the world cups, or the European cup we were in under Sven. On all three occasions we qualified, and we had a go and went out narrowly to good teams. Team much better than Croatia. Hope your leg sorts itself out soon mate.
Ultra Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 Sorry for being a twat You shouldn't be sorry at all. As today's events have shown, there are an awful lot of them in our game right now, at local and national level. It's easy to forget in the wake of tonight's abysmal showing just how dire we were under Sven. But remember Northern Ireland away? Or the games with Trinidad/Tobago and Ecuador in the last World Cup? English football needs a massive overhaul right now. Going back to the future should not be an option. Yes, a new manager (preferably non-English) is an absolute must. But the problems in the game go far deeper than that. Unless and until coaches at all levels start to place technical ability on a higher footing than the primitive, imbecilic hoofball we suffer week in week out, than the nation will be forced to endure many more nights like these..
Manwell Pablo Posted 21 November 2007 Author Posted 21 November 2007 attempting to make myself look better. Be a fuking man for once in your miserbale life and admit you were wrong.

Again sorry for A) spamming and B) being right. But 2 top eight finishes in a world cup and likewise in one European cup, your fu*king fool for even trying to defend yourself.

He's picked out 1 Game which was in Qualifiers in a 5 year spell. The other two he picked out where at least at the finals, and we're also irrelevant as we made it through the group stages in them as well! I never did understand why we Sacked Sven! Just the media getting on his back like usual

I just think appointing McClaren ahead of Sven was taking a massive step backwards
l444ry Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 Reading through that thread there are some posters (pro-McLaren) who should hang their heads in shame and apologise for their lack of judgement. That, or we should take their current posts with a pinch of salt!!

Manwell Pablo Posted 21 November 2007 Author Posted 21 November 2007 Ultra, mate, seriously, I cannot believe that Thracian, having met him a couple of times, can have decent conversation with you if this is what your like in real life. Such arrogance and refusal to admit defeat. You've gone down in my estimations, and I think most of the forum is aware of what I thought of you before tonight. I'd do what you normally do when your out done and ignore this if I were you.
Ultra Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 Again, Mr dickhead has failed to take note of the fact that I said Sven wasn't great, completley fuked his squad up and it was probabley time for him to go. I just think appointing McClaren ahead of Sven was taking a massive step backwards Don't try and use me as a scapegoat. A lot of the problems McClaren faced were inherited from Sven, who let the players fool themselves into thinking they were "celebrities" without doing anything to earn that status. But it's a habit that's easily acquired, isn't it Manwell?
filbertway Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 This bad boy needs to be brought up once more. I was just about to ask if I'd be in Manwells sig for a bit again Comedy genius me.
Ultra Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 yet more cheap digs I expect nothing more from someone who treats TPH not just as a mate, but a role model. As such, you're exactly what you've admitted to be. Any further comment from me is completely unnecessary.
Alexikokopops Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 Don't try and use me as a scapegoat. HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
filbertway Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 I was just about to ask if I'd be in Manwells sig for a bit again Comedy genius me. Screw it, I said proper english football. Leicester are english, that was english.
