C-man Posted 10 July 2006 Posted 10 July 2006 Today is the day England fans can apply to become members of the England Supporters Club, and so i was happily filling out the form so that i am eligible for a ballot for Euro 2008 tickets. I got to the 'Declarations' stage and realised that it was all for nothing and I can't go. Why? Because, as some of you may know, last year against Coventry at home I was ejected for making one gesture. The Declarations page states that if i was 'convicted, cautioned, or bound-over for a public order offence anywhere in the world within the last 3 years' i would not be able to become a member. I can see why they make these rules because it does stop hooligans, but surely there should be some common sense brought in here, because i was only 15 when it happened and now I, and my father, are being prevented from getting England tickets because of a complete over-reaction by several police officers. What is worse is that because it counts for the last 3 years, I cannot even apply for the 2010 World Cup, as it will not be 3 years until January 2009, and the member places will be taken up before the end of July 2008 Ahh well, there are always ticket touts.

Unlucky, is there no way you can contact them and let them know the situation?
Bert Posted 10 July 2006 Posted 10 July 2006 They won't be bothered about the situation, although we all know what C-Man did was not worthy of ejection, The FA will not want people who have even been convicted for something small, as it is still a conviction and they will look at it in the sense that "if they've done it once, why won't they do it again" and even the slightest friction can cause a fracas, and you know how UEFA/FIFA are with us and trouble/hooliganism.

Can you not get an uncle or someone to sign up on your behalf?
bigneville Posted 11 July 2006 Posted 11 July 2006 The FA suck man meat. And i bet they still think that Alan Shearer didn't mean to kick Neil Lennon in the face......
C-man Posted 11 July 2006 Author Posted 11 July 2006 Can you not get an uncle or someone to sign up on your behalf? Problem is that there are only 25000 places, and only 4000 are left so I wouldn't be able to get it sorted in time. Nevermind eh.

Guess i better get on my knees and plead then However because I was only 15 at the time, and it was only a 'bind-over', it is wiped from my record at 17. According to the magistrate anyway. So maybe I will be allowed to go to the next World Cup.
Guest Posted 12 July 2006 Posted 12 July 2006 Aren't they only asking you to declare it though? Does it actually say "you will not be able to become a member", or have I missed that bit? If so, still apply, they might not be as anal as you think.

Guest Posted 12 July 2006 Posted 12 July 2006 Yeah... couldn't you just bullshit anyway? Surely they don't subject 25000 applications to scrutiny for 'gesture' offences? I wouldn't, it's like insurance, they don't check unless there's a problem later, and then say you're liable even if it's their mistake.

There's more to this blokes story than is being retold I think...

But isn't it just to get a membership likesay? If you behave then there's no prob, but if you misbehave I guess you're up shit creek anyway.
