No he should not have been left on the field, but The ref didn't see it did he? How can the ref send someone off when he didn't see it (Doubt his assistant we're much help either) Same with the Rooney incident, The ref didn't see it, his desicision was swayed by opposing player both times.

The fourth official saw it who then told the assistant. After all, that's what they are there for right? And the Rooney incident was spot on, so why complain? The refs were overall very good this WC, the FIFA guidelines however weren't...

In rugby the linesmen are given mics and they talk to the ref all the time, good idea, IMO. If a ref's going to send someone off, I'd rather see them take the time to consult their peers and make a proper decision instead of rashly brandishing a red and ruining a game. And as for the Rooney incident, what do you mean the ref didn't see it? He was stood right there. Grow the fock up, even the Mirror yesterday published an article sayign England were shit, Ronaldo wasn't to blame, Rooney should have been sent off and you need to get over it. I mean, come on, the Mirror!

The refs were overall very good this WC, the FIFA guidelines however weren't... the thing is I am not so sure he did!! it was a very strange situation and the delay was to long imo the game was about to be restarted then suddenly he got a message if the fourth official had seen it straight away this delay wouldn't have happend!! as for the Rooney sending off, he probably should have gone for the stamp BUT I think it's pretty obvious again that the ref didn't see it, he just gave a free kick and was waiting for the situation to clear up and didn't react until the push when he made a move to send him off!! IMO he sent him off for the push and when he reviewed the footage he saw the stamp and changed his reason imo because he sent him off for the wrong reason and it got him out of a tight situation However he made them he did get the correct decisions

Rooney got the red card he deserved. The referee can send his report back to FIFA saying it was for the stamp, but I think the video shows that he wasnt doing nothing until Rooney pushed Ronaldo. And as much as it's feeble, you cant do that in a football match. But I think he sent it back in his report it was for the stamp, because he's seen it after on replays and I'm sure he knows he probably wouldnt have been refereeing that final had he missed that stamp on Carvalho. You watch it and decide. Referee did nothing wrong in my opinion. Ronaldo did, but I'm not going to blame him. Rooney should raise his hands and stamp on people.

Its a shame that another referee has gone because he was the best in the world (because he was given the WC final) and made the right decision about Rooney and Zidane.

The FIFA website received FIVE MILLION hits from angry Koreans after his errors cost them a game against Switzerland (though no doubt Bladder was well pleased). The penalty decision he made in the final was also very questionable. Given previous history between England and the Argies, especially in World Cup quarter-finals, his appointment for the Portugal game was always dodgy, as said repeatedly before the game, and so it proved. Rooney has today AGAIN proclaimed innocence in the "stamping" episode and should have had the benefit of the doubt, especially given the stamp by Valente on Beckham earlier in that game which was far more serious and yet went unpunished. While I'm not entirely astonished to see bitter Celts singing his praises I'm disappointed to see others jumping on the bandwagon. If he has decided to retire I certanly won't miss him!

With proper preparation and a decent squad selection we could have done better. But FIFA would still have found a way of making sure we didn't win...

The fact that most of the people protesting are about 19 and most of those who have just accepted it are the older, wiser members of the forum community (and those that are Welsh ) speaks tonnes, in my opinion. And it's not just on here, either - strangely everyone over the age of about 22 who doesn't read the Sun for factual information seems to have accepted that England were, quite simply, **** wank. I've got nothing to be bitter about. We would have given a good account of ourself, out in the group stages - maybe - but we wouldn't have gone down like an under-achieving bunch of disorganised clowns. Quite frankly, I wouldn't be angry and looking for a scapegoat if I were you - kiddo - I'd just be embarassed. ! I've just checked your profile. If you really were born in 63, you need to be doubly embarassed. And why weren't you there? Because you lost twice to us and also to Poland - who also underwhelmed the world in Germany. Your team has serious issues (far more than England) and I'd be surprised if you made the finals of ANY major tournament in the next 20 years. While we were indeed dire and didn't deserve to win the tournament, the fact was we were stitched up. Take your blinkers off and tell us we were beaten by a better side. We didn't - the ref beat us. But ultimately Sven is the biggest scapegoat, as I stated in the aftermath of our exit, and he's gone. PS I'm no more embarassed at being 40+ than you should be for being Welsh..

It was a sending off Ultra he stamped on his knackers we lost because we couldnt beat them in normal time with 10 men and we cant take penalties!
