Knighton Matt Posted 3 August 2006 Posted 3 August 2006 From BBC Defender Alex Bruce has signed a three-year deal with Ipswich after leaving Birmingham.The 21-year-old is Jim Magilton's first signing as Town boss. Bruce played under father Steve at Birmingham and he admitted: "The fact that my dad was the manager did get in the way. "My team-mates and the fans were fantastic but the press gave me a hard time. Now I'm free of that burden and relishing the challenge at Ipswich."

wirralsimon Posted 3 August 2006 Posted 3 August 2006 He was on loan at Tranmere for a while last season, they cut the loan short and sent him back because he was nowhere near good enough for League One. Once back at Birmingham his dad put him into the first team in the Prem, not surprisingly there was some unrest in the squad! I remember one of their defenders being disciplined for going off on one when he found put Alex Bruce was in the team ahead of him. I think he had a point! Simon
