It's been said before, but the only way you would sell the monthly payment option is for fans to sign a credit agreement with a third party finance company, who pay up front say 95% of face value to the club then charge interest on the loan. This would depend on getting the rates right, and would be a bit of a gamble as you would have to assume a certain number of additional ST's sold to cover the cost of the 5%

If it was me I would crunch the numbers and tout around for a finance company to offer to cover it for better than 10-15% of the face value, with the club picking up some and the STH's the rest.

Or they could gamble and offer it on interest free credit if you take a club credit card as well and transfer a balance.

Finance companies are less willing to offer free credit options now following the number of clubs that went under in recent seasons, in fact some clubs suffered a period where match tickets could not be bought on credit cards.

But surely people realise that credit costs anyway, and would therefore expect to have to pay a little extra for the benefit of being able to pay back longer?

Or am I being unrealistic?

Somehow I can't see it working...don't know how many fans are willing to renew in February not to mention that we'll have no idea what league we're in (assuming the board has any ambition to get us promoted while this scheme runs) so how can they set prices?

Cash flow wise it's not a huge deal; honestly how much of the clubs money comes from people who buy season tickets in installments? To finance through the summer just budget better through the winter. That's a ridiculous argument. This makes the board sound fairyl amateruish to me.

They could price it assuming that they stay in the same division and then make adjustments for the later payment amounts if the League status changed. Would probably have to offer a refund policy if division changed too.

Norwich ran this successfully this season.

It's the opposite re the board, if this scheme was introduced they would be receiving some money earlier than now.

No Comment on the rest of the suggestion - shared credit costs? It wouldn't matter if the club went bust, the debt is with the individual and would be payable regardless of whether it became worthless.

The club would already have paid it's part in taking less than the full face value of the ST.

These early payment ideas are becoming stupid. The club has stated the another 1,000 season tickets sold will give RK another £250,000 to spend. So why not go out and spend £1M, start start winning some matches and get the fans coming back in? That would involve some degree of gamble and with the club saying that they don't want to go into debt the money would have to come from the directors pockets. Speculate? I doubt it.

I have to take business gambles everyday. Can you imagine if I asked my customers for 18 months payments in advance so that I could buy machinery to produce their goods and improve my cash flow, I think my competition would enjoy that.

I appreciate the sentiment but don't think you'd buy the sort of player/s for £1m that would draw the crowds and change our fortunes. You could put Gradel in for free though! :)

Like I said no guarantees, but sticking £500,000 down on someone to strenthen the left side and a decent midfielder would surely have us one or two places up the league. The only way to bring in extra revenue is to start winning games, or wait for a miracle. It certainly won't happen by sitting on your hands or sticking up posters in the Dog & Gun.
