stez Posted 28 September 2006 Posted 28 September 2006 I have to say I agree. Northfields is now a place you can walk through at any time of day (or night) and not worry about anybody jumping on you, beating you or stabbing you. I live on the edge of Northfields, and I laugh when people say that they think it's an intimidating place and rough - it's not even close to being rough, that's just its old reputation. Places like New Parks and Braunstone, even Eyres Monsell, are quite intimidating and you never feel completely comfortable walking through those areas looked at a couple of houses in northfields; we decided not to go for them (even though one was really really nice) east goscote was the hood to worry about, when i was a kid. safe if you lived there, but if any syston came down looking for some the GTS (and later the YGP) would soon sort them out.

Katy Posted 28 September 2006 Posted 28 September 2006 Simple! One's a council estate the other isn't. Im such an idiot
Head Honcho Posted 28 September 2006 Posted 28 September 2006 Im such an idiot I wouldn't go quite that far I spent many a long day studying in the pork pie library.
lcfc_jme Posted 28 September 2006 Posted 28 September 2006 I was thinking 20 years ago when I lived on Wycombe Road Tailby and Northfields was well rough! About 20 years ago sounds about right. Since I've been there (pretty much 17 years), nothing major has happened I don't think, but you hear of many other places constantly having fights, stabbings, shootings and raids all the time. All of the "gangsters" from Northfields have either moved out or been put in prison, so now it's relatively safe.

lookwhaticando Posted 28 September 2006 Posted 28 September 2006 What's wrong with Braunston? Nice place, would like to live there one day. Lovely little chippy there. In all seriousness, I've no idea what's the roughest part of Leicester... so I'm just gonna say 'wherever jme lives' Sorry jme, normally I'd have said TPH but he don't live there.

Good chip shop or not, I wouldn't like to live there, I only pass through Braunstone when I visit me brother and sister . I do not live in a rough area Although it could be if I wanted it to be you're only going with me cos TPH doesn't live there?? I don't like being second best

(note the lack of the 'e' at the end.... hint hint) You're not second best, you're number one in Leicester, mate.
Bert Posted 28 September 2006 Posted 28 September 2006 The best chip shop in leicester is by FAR Mario's. In Leicester, it tends to be if you know a few prople from certain areas, that you'll be ok, wherever you go.

Aha I see what you're on about now  Took me a while but I got there Top stuff Hmm I wouldn't be number one in Leicester if TPH was here though But he isn't so I'm still King I reckon I'd have to kill The People's Hero and become an Enemy of the State if TPH came here The best chip shop in leicester is by FAR Mario's. Yeah that's about right, if you know the people and they like your face, then you're in luck. But if certain people don't like your face, try to avoid their areas at all costs
New England Fox Posted 28 September 2006 Posted 28 September 2006 Beaumont Leys didnt seem bad when i lived there. I lived on Beaumont leys lane. But then again, we did move when i was 6 and it was over 20 years ago now.

Beaumont Leys Lane before the Beauy pub is and I think still is not too bad it's when you get to the top where the council has built all the maisonettes it gets a bit rough. 20 years ago my Uncle Bobby lived at 81 Beaumont Leys Lane next to the school and it was fine then anyway.
lcfc_jme Posted 28 September 2006 Posted 28 September 2006 You need to change your forum username - Enemy Of The State Or perhaps The People's Enemy I quite happily will do once me and TPH start having our problems, or I just feel like annoying him and the forum in general I'd obviously have to gather the opinion of my accomplice (which is YOU) as to which one it'd be, but atm TPH and the rest of you are safe, I'm in a good mood and do not currently feel the need to rid the country of their hero

Braunstone Gate is my favourite area of Leicester, it's close to town, fairly close to my house, next to narborough road, near city+tigers and then is the home to Marios Chippery. Perfect.

Cat Burger Posted 30 September 2006 Posted 30 September 2006 I live in between Radford and Hyson Green in Nottingham, it's sort of like a no man's land of vice, violence and drug dealing, but on the plus side the prostitutes are dead minging.
