Janx Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 Ok, not trying to start another Board Out thread. But I feel the need to let you know of the event that occured yesterday. I was in JJB...oh dear, looking for a mini England Kit for the Janxlet, and franly they ONLY do minikits around the time of the world cup etc, the smallest size was 6-7 years, which wasnt TOO bad, as he for some reason nearly fit it. The problem was there were no socks and shorts and he has set his heart on it, his attention was then diverted to all the other "mini kits" hanging there.... it is worth pointing out that he is 4 and his knowledge of teams is low to say the least, in that when I sked him which team he supported he said "England", fair enough I thought, but then I went on to ask what city or town he supported and of course he said Leicester as he wants to be like me etc, ( also worth pointing out that he said Wakefield Wildcats, a rugby league side !) Anyway, when he couldnt find the England kit, he spies the Manure, Chelsea and Leeds kit and starts declaring undying support for all three. The latter for me would normally be like a spear through the heart... Y'know what.... I nearly let him buy one, and thought, sod it I dont mind taking him and his little mates to a local game .... after all he will have an uphill battle supporting the foxes, why get a kicking for supporting a crap team AND have to endure depressing drives into the oblivion.... Luckily he spied an England Goalkeeping full kit... aged 4-5 ... thank god he decided to be a goalkeeper... for now...
Fez of Mahrez Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 A sad story and completely understandable. Have to add I think it's an absolute disgrace that our kit isn't in JJB in Northampton. This Peter Jones seems approachable, I might email him and ask why this is.

I had a similar problem, Jankers, I ended up buying my boy and girl barcelona tops!!!

This Peter Jones seems approachable, I might email him and ask why this is. Disgustingly, to my knowledge Leicester City football shirts are sold in two places. The Club shop and Dominoes toy store opposit the shires. I even went to a sports shop in Fosse Park. Found plenty of Forsest away shirts but no LCFC shirts. Thats probabley why you can't find one in Northampton, and I can't find one in Coalville, Ashby, or even Loughboro.
The People's Hero Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 I went in to JJB in Maidstone and enquired about purchasing a Leicester shirt. First they looked blank, then they just laughed.

Le Coq Sportif was bad enough but a JJB shirt in a JJB shop within a short distance of the ground? Again, no chance. Why not? Anyone know to stop me wasting my time speaking to Peter Jones (no offence meant to him, he thoundth thuper!!)?
Janx Posted 2 October 2006 Author Posted 2 October 2006 I CAN and WILL buy him a kit when I come to the matches, but I have always questionned whether it is RIGHT to force your team onto he kids. After all he was born in Pontefract hospital and was raised in Wakefield, most people are either Leeds, Barnsleh or Manu or Rugby league... Also he has only just started to even ask if he is ever going to go to footie matches, so whilst it is likely he will come with me in the fullness of time, perhaps his birthrite entitles him to watch Leeds or Barnsleh, the same way mine entitled me to watch Leicester, being born and raised there???
holly Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 get him into rugby dont let him support any northern shite football
Janx Posted 2 October 2006 Author Posted 2 October 2006 get him into rugby dont let him support any northern shite football Yeah but its League, its all a bit...... common
Master Fox Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 I saw Leicester City kits in the JJB in Milton Keynes. Why there not in Norfhampton i don't know?
holly Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 Yeah but its League, its all a bit...... common ah well atleast u wouldnt have to put up with him supporting another football team, imo that would be worse than being 'common'
Janx Posted 2 October 2006 Author Posted 2 October 2006 ah well atleast u wouldnt have to put up with him supporting another football team, imo that would be worse than being 'common' well its a thought, although I think he might get into trouble if he wears his deerstalker and plus 4s into their grounds...

Anyone know to stop me wasting my time speaking to Peter Jones (no offence meant to him, he thoundth thuper!!)? The Ironic thing is when it was Fox Leisure/Le Coq Sportiff, there was a Fox Leisure/LCFC shop in both Coalville and Ashby ( dunno about Northampton obviously ), both of which are now closed. Due to lack of business I would think. Thats probabley why we aren't trying to get our shirts sold further away, they just don't sell.

They have quite a big selection in the JJB in the Rushes, or at least they have had the last few times I've been in there.

Not been in ages so I’ll take your word for it. Still the fact that you can't buy one in Coalville is ridiculous. Its the third biggest town in the shire if I’m not mistaken. I understand the reasons behind it but its very inconvenient for me!
Louise Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 I feel the same way about the highlights DVD/Videos, going into shops even in Leicester like HMV or Virgin you'll get a selection ranging from the obvious (Man U, Liverpool) to the less so (Wolves, Leeds), but no Leicester ones!

act smiley Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 I can't find one in ... even Loughboro. They definitely had last seasons in the JJB there (hidden in the corner, true) but not in all of the other smaller shops. (yes, I do only skim through threads...)
Manwell Pablo Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 More worrying still is the fact you can't get one in Fosse Park! That is just ridicolous, selling Forest shirts but not Leicester shirts in one of Leicesters main shopping centres
Master Fox Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 I was thinking of opening up a shop in Leicester selling nothing but Fox Leisure branded clothing etc. I think this would be quite a shrewd business move considering everyone used to walk around FL gear; it was even dubbed the ‘New Nike’ of street wear.
Master Fox Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 And where are you going to get your stock? Fox Leisure Distribution Company in china
