Foxello Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 ...Who should we go after in January? He would probobly give the manager(likely Kelly but you never know ) a couple of million and hope we might be able to do a Palace although its likely next season will be the promotion campaign. Personally i think we should get Eastwood, Bisgaard and Sharp as they are all easily affordible( with the right funds) and would not cost the earth in terms of wages.

David Vaughan, Andy Robinson, Diagoura on loan from Watford.
Master Fox Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 and how are we going to keep Freddy Eastwood, Matty Fryatt, Ian Hume, Billy Sharp, Chirs O Grady and Elvis Hammond happy? Well you would get rid of Chris O'Grady and Elvis for start!
Foxello Posted 11 October 2006 Author Posted 11 October 2006 Easy. Get rid of O'Grady on loan(he's not good enough for this League) and put Hammond on the Transfer List. If Mandaric came, we would not have to rely on a goal every 10 games from that pair
Stevosevic Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 exactly! its not really a dilemma is it? both poor players

Ultra Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 Four strikers competing for two starting places is hardly a problem. But in any case, if Mandy WAS at the helm, presumably a large wage bill wouldn't be a problem?
Master Fox Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 Alright then, How are you going to Keep Iain Hume, Matty Fryatt, Freddy Eastwood, and Billy Sharp happy. You need four decent strikers in a good sqaud! We would be sorted in that department
Stevosevic Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 Alright then, How are you going to Keep Iain Hume, Matty Fryatt, Freddy Eastwood, and Billy Sharp happy. if Fryatt is as good as everyone says he is, he will earn a move to the premiership in the not too distant future personally i think he is very over-rated and is still to produce the goods, we will see.
Master Fox Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 A couple of those could be let go or sent on loan. But if Mandy WAS at the helm, presumably a large wage bill wouldn't be a problem? You’ve changed your tune
Thracian Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 Sounds like everyone's arguing already. Best to stick and bring our youth players through.
Ultra Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 Hypothetical situation. Mandaric is not at the club yet, and even if he was there's no guarantee that the players named would come to us!
Thracian Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 if Fryatt is as good as everyone says he is, he will earn a move to the premiership in the not too distant future personally i think he is very over-rated and is still to produce the goods, we will see. I agree.
Manwell Pablo Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 A couple of those could be let go or sent on loan. But if Mandy WAS at the helm, presumably a large wage bill wouldn't be a problem? The blokes got a few squid but he's no bottomless pit. We don't need to waste inexcess of 2 million pounds on two strikers who aren't much better (if it all) than what we have. Where as you could wrap up Andy Robinson, David Vaughan for about a million, and possibly strike a MDV inclusive deal with ADO Den Hagen for Richard Knopper, seeing as Rob Kelly is insistent he isn't coming back. Tony Calpaldi would be usefull as well. EDIT: My partaking in this thread does not mean I condone it, I'm bored and have nothing else to do.
Louise Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 If he did come I can't see him giving a couple of million, maybe a couple of 100k as a gesture to win the fans over (although most don't seem to need that) and an increased wage bill allowing Kelly to bring in a few free transfers if he wants.
Janx Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 I agree. I dont.... he could get a move to the prem anyway. there are plenty of "rash" buys for players who are not of Prem quality... Check out COnnolly!
Stevosevic Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 I dont.... he could get a move to the prem anyway. there are plenty of "rash" buys for players who are not of Prem quality... Check out COnnolly! connolly scored goals regularly in this division for several years, Fryatt is not the player Connolly is yet, nor does he have a record as good as Connolly.
Janx Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 connolly scored goals regularly in this division for several years, Fryatt is not the player Connolly is yet, nor does he have a record as good as Connolly. yeah but he's not Prem quality...but I still reckon Fryatt could get bought by a prem club for his "promise".. your argument and Thracian agreed was that "his time will come if he's good enough" ... it may come anyway! <_<
mat_j101 Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 If he did come I can't see him giving a couple of million, maybe a couple of 100k as a gesture to win the fans over (although most don't seem to need that) and an increased wage bill allowing Kelly to bring in a few free transfers if he wants. Im sure he'd put at least a million into transfers. He put a fair few into Pompey, and hes said he would want to do the same thing he did there.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 If Mandaric gave us money, I would plump for a new midfield possibly consisting of Jason Koumas, Andy Reid and Calum Davenport - accounting for the fact that money's new object?? As a striker, I wouldn't mind taking a gamble on Neil Shipperley or even Malcolm Christie and... 'All we are saying..... is give Sheehan a chance !!'
Louise Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 A million perhaps, I'm not sure about a couple of million. I think we all need to temper our expecations a bit, I want MM here (generally, as I don't know his terms yet) but I don't expect him to come in flashing millions from the start, he'll have just spent than in getting the club and will probably want to start 'small' and hope we can get promoted that way - by strengthening the playing budget, possibly changing manager and allowing a reasonable transfer budget for this level (also let's not forget we don't know how much money he actually has anyway, especially if rumours that he'd not got much before he sold Pompey are true).
Thracian Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 Im sure he'd put at least a million into transfers. He put a fair few into Pompey, and hes said he would want to do the same thing he did there. A million? Have you seen the length of the thread we've got on the guy? Are you saying we should swop the careers of the best bunch of kids we've had in years for a random group of mercenaries and £1m?????? If that's the bottom line I'll write to my lad (he's got pals). Actually, I've done that already but my words fell on stony ground!!!.
Daggers Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 Alright then, How are you going to Keep Iain Hume, Matty Fryatt, Freddy Eastwood, and Billy Sharp happy. Jelly and ice cream? Everyone loves that.
Wils Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 Jelly and ice cream? Everyone loves that. I actually dont
