If Mandaric came...

A million? Have you seen the length of the thread we've got on the guy? Are you saying we should swop the careers of the best bunch of kids we've had in years for a random group of mercenaries and £1m?????? If that's the bottom line I'll write to my lad (he's got pals). Actually, I've done that already but my words fell on stony ground!!!.

I'm still on the fence re MM but surely it's not the 1 mill that's a problem it's how it's spent. If it was used, in the Jan window to buy just 2 or 3 players to supplement the 'the best bunch of kids we've had in years' with say a decent attacking midfielder, rightwinger and an additional attacking left back to cover/compete with Sheehan and we got rid of Johnson, Sylla, Johansson then that would be positive and worthwhile?

Agree with you if the million was spent displacing Logan, Stearman, Porter and et al.

Sounds like i've started a war on here!

Look, we need strengthening in every area and a Mandaric take over would give us the most money we've had since the Taylor era. The good thing is is that Mandaric would not let Kelly(?) spend the money on tripe unlike Taylor was aloud to. Having had a look at players who could/would be available i think we should go after who i mentioned plus Hendrie and Idiakez.

This could be the start of a wonderful future for Leicester City Football Club! :D

I think you should visit a few Pompey forums, they've signed loads of tripe while he's been there, but like most of these caes that's down to the manager. Any 'owner' should have faith in the manager they've appointed and let them sign whoever, provided it's within their budget.

The important question therefore is, what is his managerial recruitment like, well apart from Rednapp pretty appalling.

Money provides opportunity - no more, no less. It doesn't guarantee a decent manager, decent players or a decent level of success.

Mandaric has learned from his mistakes at Pompey and wont let it happen again.

Not convinced (surprise, surprise).

Some of the current Portsmouth squad look like Mandaric signings rather than Redknapp ones. The Croatian Kranjcar who played last night is an example.

Lee Trundle.....

Who needs Trundle, we've got Asaba!

Trundle a couple of seasons ago would be a fantastic prospect for a championship club. Wouldn't have him now, really.

If Mandaric came, and if he invested, and if we bought the players listed in this thread and if we got promoted, and if he stayed for longer than two seasons and if there was another decent summer...do you think he would pay for the outside of the stadium to be repainted? I think a nice misty buff would be nice. How many pots of paint do you think it would take?

Oh, and do we have to suffer any more of these ludicrous "what if?" threads of pure, unadulterated, unsubstantial pap?

The problem with our team in particular with key positions is that its got too many "potential" players and not enough experience players in their prime, thats the sort of thing I would expect to change under manderic.

Fryatt is our best striker yet his record is worse then past strikers such as connolly and devries so clearly the strikers department would need strengthening.

...Who should we go after in January?

He would probobly give the manager(likely Kelly but you never know  ) a couple of million and hope we might be able to do a Palace although its likely next season will be the promotion campaign.

Personally i think we should get Eastwood, Bisgaard and Sharp as they are all easily affordible( with the right funds) and would not cost the earth in terms of wages.

That chap from Arsenal...Henry I think his name is, some french bloke, very promising, quick, bit pricey though I think. Failing that I quite like the thought of Forsell coming across the midlands. Midfield, we only really need one decent player, with a little vision and experience to galvanise and unleash the potential that is undoubtedly there and play the underperformers out of the side. That said I would be tempted to sniff around Lee Hendrie (not literally of course that would be disgusting) see if anything comes of that, he's still a good age to have a positive (potentially long term) effect on the side and must be hungry to establish his name again at least until the end of the season.

Just some thoughts.
