Fox in a Box Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/...~912349,00.html about done... Leicester City today look set to complete the signing of Andy Welsh on loan from Sunderland until the end of the year. The 23-year-old forward spent a successful spell at the Walkers Stadium with the Foxes for the final two months of last season - making a total of 10 appearances and scoring one goal. He then returned to the Stadium of Light and played a part in the Black Cats' final two Premiership games of the season against Fulham and Aston Villa. But after signing a new contract on Wearside over the summer, Welsh has failed to make the breakthrough to the Sunderland first team this term under the stewardship of either Niall Quinn or Roy Keane. City boss Rob Kelly said: "I am delighted Andy is joining us. He will give us options in the forward positions." Welsh joined Sunderland from Stockport County in November 2004, having made a total of 81 appearances over a three-year stint in the first team at Edgeley Park. In total he has made 25 appearances for the Black Cats to date, scoring two goals. The player, who will be designated the number 23 shirt, is now expected to be included in Rob Kelly's travelling squad for the Championship clash against Leeds United at Elland Road on Tuesday evening.
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 This just popped up in my news alert box and I shat myself. Escuse me while I clean, and I'll return shortly for some coherent comments.
Babylon Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/...~912349,00.html about done...signed till the end of the season End of the year!!!!
Swedging Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 I see Gallagher came on for Blackburn at the weekend - so I reckon he's probably not on his way here.
Guest seanfox778 Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 i'm happy with that but i don't like how they are calling him a forward surely he is not bought in to replace fryatt i thought he was a winger, they better be bringing in a striker aswell.
Fox in a Box Posted 16 October 2006 Author Posted 16 October 2006 End of the year!!!! whatever! ......... picky sod!
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 This is a very smart move. It shows that RK is on the ball with what needs to be done to strengthen the side's weaknesses. Since he has played for us before he should just fall right into place. Like bric-a-brac I wonder whether this will be followed by loaning Maybury to Sunderland?
Babylon Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 whatever! ......... picky sod! FFS I'm just pointing it out, take a chill pill.
Foxello Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 About bloody time Thought we were getting him Friday? I dont know what to believe anymore

Yeah he's a left winger, a spot where we have been consistently struggling... if he gets up front a bit more all the better!
filbertway Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 About bloody time Thought we were getting him Friday? I dont know what to believe anymore What is actually so confusing?
lcfc_jme Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 I reckon it'd be good for us - he was pretty good for us when he was here last season, and he already knows the players so he won't have to adapt/adjust all over again like he's starting afresh. It also means that when Tiatto gets injured again (which, lets face it is likely to happen), we have adequate cover and can use Levi as a kind of impact player to run at people with pace when they're tired.
Foxello Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 What is actually so confusing? I'm not confused, just wondering why it's taken so long
Fox in a Box Posted 16 October 2006 Author Posted 16 October 2006 I'm not confused, just wondering why it's taken so long he had to cycle down from sunderland hes quite poor!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 Completely underwhelmed. Don't think it's what we need at all and if the money is there for him it could have been better spent, but I hope he does well.

Ok, we knew this was happening, but what abou the striker we were supposed to get on loan!!! Stop doing shite interviews and sign a bloody striker, quick.....chop, chop!!!
Ric Flair Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 From listening to Kelly after the match on saturday he didn't seem to positive that we would be getting a striker in. So why on earth has he used the very little money we have on getting a winger. Don't get me wrong if this means that Tiatto doesn't have to play again then i'm fairly pleased but after Elvis put in yet another embarrassing performance on saturday it shows that a striker is very much a priority as Hume won't be able to do it on his own every game while Fryatt is injured.

Agreed, but Hume has risen to the challenge, it's a shame we have no-one besides him upfront who can do the same!! A striker is a must for me, I had my heart set on Gallagher but that doesn't look likely!!
I_miss_wembley_finals Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 Afraid that whilst I hope the lad proves me wrong I too am a little indifferent to this news. It just looks like misplaced spending when there are other weaknesses in the squad. Seems there is little point working on the service to the strikers when one of them will continue to be Elvis! I live in hope I am proved wrong mind you.

To be fair, I though he was average, I've seen much worse from him.
Fox in a Box Posted 16 October 2006 Author Posted 16 October 2006 All strikers need decent service and Welshy can actually cross the ball.... OGGY and HUME are decent enough but having width and winger that can cross into the danger area could prove a very avaluable asset to have. Jo lo and porter havent really got that (yet). Lets wait and see eh...
lookwhaticando Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 Stick Welsh on the left and Porter in the middle. Outrageous change, probably unlikely.
