Lacks a really good game.

Reviews for Twilight Princess (best launch game on the system) seem to indicate the Wii controler takes away from the experince instead of adding to it. Suggesting the Gamecube version will be better anyway.

There's no finesse to the way the Wii Remote is used, and at times you'll wish that you could just hit a button to swing the sword instead of dealing with all the motion-sensing nonsense. This is especially true in the rare cases that require you to time your sword swings properly, as well as once you start learning a few extra moves, like the shield bash, which is done by shoving the Nunchuk controller forward. Most of the time, performing this move resulted in a spin attack. The combat controls using the Wii Remote may feel somewhat different from past games, but it doesn't draw you into the experience any more than using a standard controller would, and at worst, it's imprecise.

The first games to come out on the virtual console look intresting, but alot of people will have played most of them to death when they first came out.

Cue Phube telling us how wrong I am, and telling us all how great Nintendo and the Wii are.

I've ordered that game & i've also ordered Call of Duty 3. Played it on the Xbox 360 and it was good. Lets hope it will be as good on the Wii.

When is the new Nintendo Wii coming out?

You knew!!!

Got mine pre-ordered, getting on December 8th!! :yay:

I don't know where you got that quote about the control system, but nearly every review I've read states that the controls are fantastic, and they couldn't go back to the 'old' way!! Don't believe Gamespot, the man's a retard!!! :P

Hu-hum:

The big difference, of course, is that on Wii you use both Nintendo's nunchuk attachment and its innovative new remote to manipulate Link and his weapons/items respectively. Gesturing with the Wii remote, you can easily and effortlessly swing the hero's sword. The gestures don't effect one-to-one movement, as so many had hoped - and yes, it would've been nice if the Big N could have pulled it off. However, they perfectly replace the need for button taps - a requirement in the GameCube version -- and after only a few minutes of familiarization become the preferable way to play. You don't need to flail your arms around like a monkey on fire in order to accurately control Link's blade - you can choose to make minimal movements and you will never run into a single issue. You can, alternatively, exact long, arching gestures and they will work, too. You won't get tired. Our arms weren't aching after more than 50 hours of play time. We weren't out of breath. In contrast, we found ourselves much more immersed in the experience of combat, as simulating a sword swipe is simply more engaging and therein more satisfying than pressing a button.

Furthermore, the advantages of the Wii remote become blindingly clear when Link uses projectile weapons. Whether the hero is armed with the Gale Boomerang, the Slingshot, the Hookshot or a great new staff whose power we won't spoil, targeting with the pointer is so far and away better than using an analog stick that the latter feels archaic and broken by comparison. The Wii remote opens up a level of speed and accuracy never before experienced in a Zelda title and you will within a matter of hours be able to ride Epona through Hyrule Field while delivering fatal bow-and-arrow headshots to ground-based and airborne foes. To the point: this new method of control obliterates the former one and there is no going back.

I want one but i've just weaned my little boy off his x-box addiction, this would just take him too far!!!!

Is he too young to be interested in girls yet? That's one way to keep him off the crack gaming systems.

Opinions from those that have a Wii? I'm tempted to get one for my new pad (subject to availability!!) as I imagine they're pretty good after a few beers! Might got an Xbox 360 as well for 'proper' games so don't want this to turn into a debate! Just want to know what the good bits and what the bad bits are about the Wii! Cheers.

Good - you get to physically move about. When drunk this means people fall over = funny for everyone else in the room. It also equals not funny when drunk twat friend lobs his controller into your fishtank.

Bad - Graphics not as good as 360 and game play slows during frantic moments on certain games.

On balance - I'm getting one even though I have a 360

Come to the pub tomorrow KM ;)
