Scow Posted 29 December 2006 Posted 29 December 2006 Ok, it's not a thrilling topic, but select which bank you use for your main banking and why. (SPAM alert: If anyone holds a business account outside of HSBC, let me know, I'll do you a good deal. )
Geordie Posted 29 December 2006 Posted 29 December 2006 Abbey as I have had an account with them since the day I was born. Not sure how many image/brand changes they need though? Banks are the biggest 'legalised' thieves after dentists and Leicester City matchday ticket prices.
RowlattsFox Posted 29 December 2006 Posted 29 December 2006 nationwide, just because thats the bank my mum put me in and i have just kept it going.
Daggers Posted 29 December 2006 Posted 29 December 2006 Banks are the biggest 'legalised' thieves after dentists and Leicester City matchday ticket prices. That list misses off: Lawyer fees - vampires of the first (and most redundant) order Estate agency percentage fees Vehicle exise licence UK software prices tax on alcohol phone charges motorway service stations cross channel ferries child care
Bert Posted 29 December 2006 Posted 29 December 2006 Yorkshire Bank. Only because at good old Fosse primary school, we used to have "bank books" and they were Yorkshire bank.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 29 December 2006 Posted 29 December 2006 Right hand. Sometimes I sit on it first to get pins and needles, just to mix things up a bit. Oh ****. Natwest.
lcfc_jme Posted 29 December 2006 Posted 29 December 2006 Lloyds TSB 'cos it's the bank me mother set my account up with
Alexikokopops Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 Nationwide, had one since I were a youngster and they do nice interest on my e-Savings account. I have serious issues with HSBC since they decided I didn't live where I do and closed my account without telling me and passed me onto the Metropolitan Collection Service who told me I had 14 days to pay off my £977.01 overdraft. Bastards.
lookwhaticando Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 If I was still in the UK, Natwest or HSBC probably. But I'm not so I bank with some Canadian bank - TD Canada Trust.

Bastards. When the boot is on the other foot they make you wait ages to get money from them. I finished with a Bank once and i had to wait ages to get my money transfered to another bank. I'm with Nat West and my particular branch are superb...but i have friends who've had problems with them. Strange.
Rincewind Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 I'll tell you it's A and L but you are not getting my bank details off of me.
Guest Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 I wouldn't bank with HSBC - the staff are terrible. Can't be trusted.
davieG Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 Current Account - Barclays, because I'm a Premier type person. not that I'm infulenced by marketing or brands. Savings - Nationwide.
Nationwider Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 My current account is with A&L as that's what my Dad opened for me about a million years ago. I've got various financial products (joint account, credit cards, mortgage, CTF etc) with different institutions and its a friggin' nightmare trying to manage them all. Money makes life complicated, with or without it.
Daggers Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 Nationwide are the largest suckers of male appendages that exist in the banking world. They reamed us royally, some years back. If the head office in Northampton ever goes up in a Fight Club style puff of smoke I will happily be one of the leading suspects.

I live about 800 yards away from it so if you could keep the fire within a confined area, that'd be great. Thanks.

Just keep an eye out for me having a fight with myself and a gun outside your front room...that'll let you know something is about to kick off *where is my mind*
Deathside Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 Scowburger - Your poll is flawed - You can only pick one from the list - I have accounts with 2 different banks (One of them is that HSBC)
