Probably already a thread on this, but I've been out to the States, spent some time with some real fans, watched some games and got hooked.

Who's your team and who's your tip for the bowl?

I used to loosely follow the Steelers.... but I've now been converted to...

There can only be one...

pittsburgh-steelers.jpg

(Even though they lost out on the playoffs this year)

Dissappointing year by all accounts.

I like Pittsburgh though because their badge is nice (girly reason huh?) and because some of their other teams include penguins and pirates, both of which are very cool.

Peyton Manning is a hero, apparently. Or so I've been told. As the people who told me this were a) American b) clued up on their football and c) buying me many drinks, I choose to believe them!

Go Peyton!

Funny that you mention the Pens, because I'm a loyal, if only distant follower of the team for about 15 years now. That was mainly because of Mario Lemieux.

I used to play "NHL '94" a lot back in the days and have always enjoyed playing with Pittsburgh (watch the movie "Swingers" and you know why it was so addictive then).

Now it's all about the "Crosby and Malkin Show" and I'm glad for this young team to be successful again, after all these years of drought.

Dallas Cowboys fan here :D

We've kind of stumbled into the post season but still pretty confident that we can make a fist of it. It's a lot more open this season then it has been in the past.

Still find it wierd that 3 teams from our division qualified for the play-off. Can't remember the last time that happened...

Were you guys playing at Denver very recently? If so, I watched that game.... amusing to see Denver's mascot (a horse) hating being in all the snow.

Don't insult the Denver fans.

It's a stallion.

Phallic symbol.

Used to be redskins, but since my holiday to california 2 years ago and watching the 49ers its got to be them.Lets be honest though its a joke of a sport,I love it when theres still 2 mins to go and if the losing team havent got any time outs and not in posession the games over and they just walk off!!.At least it entertaining though.

That's a given but if the defence can get at Rex Grossman early then it might unsettle him enough to make some mistakes

Buffalo didn't get to him, but others did. Grossman has definitely been the weak link in the Bears side this season.

Meanwhile I was shocked to read this story on the BBC website..

NFL star dies in Denver shooting

NFL star Darrent Williams died in a drive-by shooting in Denver in the early hours of New Year's Day.

The Denver Broncos cornerback, 24, was one of three people shot in the incident, according to local police.

Broncos spokesman Jim Saccomano said: "We're speechless. It takes words away - it's a terrible tragedy."

Williams - in his second NFL season - had earlier played in Denver's 26-23 loss to San Francisco. The result meant his team failed to make the play-offs.

A Denver police spokesman said the white Hummer limousine that Williams and two others were travelling in was sprayed with bullets from a vehicle that drew up alongside.

All three people inside suffered bullet wounds. They were taken to a city hospital, where Williams was pronounced dead.

The other victims, a male and a female, have yet to be identified.

Williams, a second-round pick in the 2005 draft out of Oklahoma State, started nine games in his first season due to injuries.

This season, he took over as a starter from Lenny Walls and was second on the team with four interceptions and tied for third with 86 tackles.

On Sunday against the 49ers, he had three tackles and returned two punts for 50 yards before leaving the game with a shoulder injury late in the second half.

Put it this way, they reached the Superbowl in maybe 01 or 02, about four years ago anyway. Now they really stink. They are awful. Questions over talent in the squad, methods of the coach, overall concerns about the franchise, could be ripe for a takeover I suppose - like us.
