MC Prussian Posted 20 January 2007 Posted 20 January 2007 Hmm... The Pool have just gone up 2-0, with a superb volley from Pennant. The title race's getting interesting again, I hope Arsenal does me a favour this time by beating ManU.

lildave3 Posted 20 January 2007 Posted 20 January 2007 Cracking goal by Pennant took it well. Should never have had that much time in the first place. Chelsea were an absolute shambles in that first half, the worst i've seen them play for a long, long time. They can't seem to pass, defend or do anything really. Paulo Ferreira must be the most out of form player in the league, just looks dazed and confused all the time. And as for Michael Ballack, he's having a mare. Every time he gets the ball he tries a hollywood ball, and i think one of them reached his target. To me he looks like he doesn't care at all, just a stroll on a saturday afternoon, then pick up his 130 grand on Monday. If i were Jose i'd take him and Kalou off, throw Shevchenko and Diarra on, let Mikel push further forward and just go at Liverpool. I can't understand why he has chosen Essien and Ferreira at centre back yet again, imo he would be better off putting a young lad in there, who knows how to play the position.
lildave3 Posted 20 January 2007 Posted 20 January 2007 Well, the title is United's now. Oh and what a strike from Riise, how far out was he??
Maybes Posted 20 January 2007 Posted 20 January 2007 Chelsea were god damn awful. There was such a lack of leadership out on the field it was unbelievable. Chelsea without John Terry are crap. Lampard well pffffffft.
Leicester Lass Posted 20 January 2007 Posted 20 January 2007 Liverpool were very disciplined and stuck to their game plan impeccably, which is why it was so sodding boring.
JoeyB Posted 20 January 2007 Posted 20 January 2007 Well, the title is United's now. Oh and what a strike from Riise, how far out was he?? 45 yards i reckon was a right sweet strike liverpool shat all over chelsea bye bye jose
Tommeh Posted 20 January 2007 Posted 20 January 2007 hope this isn't the main game on motd tonight as after the 1st 20 mins it was awful! wonderful goal by pennant but chelsea were shite. Proof that their nothing without JT.
Jay Posted 20 January 2007 Posted 20 January 2007 when you have the best players in the world and keep winning it's easy!! when you stop winning and have a few star players out you start to see how good your manager REALLY is!!
Simi Posted 20 January 2007 Posted 20 January 2007 hope this isn't the main game on motd tonight as after the 1st 20 mins it was awful! wonderful goal by pennant but chelsea were shite. Proof that their nothing without JT. I think it will just because of the fact it is 'Liverpool vs Chelsea' and because of Cech
Mort Posted 20 January 2007 Posted 20 January 2007 bye bye jose Yeah... cant wait till the prem is rid of one of the most gifted and charismatic managers in the world at the moment Those who hate Chelski with such passion, hated ManU back a few years back and Leeds long before that... its never made any sense to me, the club thats predominated (even for a short time) always attracts the ire of folks for no other reason than their in a prominent position.
MC Prussian Posted 20 January 2007 Author Posted 20 January 2007 To be fair, Chelsea are worth laughed at. Mourinho has been very arrogant ever since he was put in charge of this million-pound opera at Chelsea. I agree with Jay, that dude has no managerial ability whatsoever, apart from appearing in a nice suit, expensive shoes and an expensive watch, a fake grin on the face, completed by Eau de Cologne on a regular basis. For somebody who's always so outspoken, Mourinho's been quite calm in the past few days and weeks. This situation once more proofs that you can't just simply buy a title with expensive players.

Not out of form, just plain shit. Didn't see the full game, just bits here and there, but from what I saw Chelsea were pretty crap. Just hope Utd can take advantage of this tomorrow.

lcfc_jme Posted 20 January 2007 Posted 20 January 2007 Pennants goal was top class, Kuyts was quite good as well in actual fact. Liverpool weren't really troubled too much - Chelsea at the minute just don't look like the almighty force they have been for the majority of Mourinhos tenure. Liverpool deserved the 3 points.
Bert Posted 20 January 2007 Posted 20 January 2007 The touch Kuyt had with his head to re-direct the play before he took his shot, was absolutly brilliant, genius.

Both goals could have been stopped by better defending, especially Pennant's. Don't get me wrong, it was a great strike, but he should never have had that much time and space.

Don't get me wrong, it was a great strike, but he should never have had that much time and space. we spoke about that, especially for the 2nd goal, A.Cole could've have easily charged down Pennant but then Pennant would've knocked it past him and stuck a cross in, with time and space. IMO Cole couldn't do right or wrong in the positon he was in.

Don't get me wrong, it was a great strike, but he should never have had that much time and space. Maybe he shouldn't have had that much time or space son, but the fact is, he did. And anyway, whether he had too much time or space isn't all that relevant. The way he struck the ball and the way it looped over the 'keeper made it unstoppable. Even if he'd have been closed down, had he hit it in that same way, it'd have been unstoppable all the same. Infact, it may have caused more problems for the 'keeper that way.

Oh come on... Were you also among the people who said Sir Alex was way past it when things weren't going that well at Man U? If I'm not mistaken, Mourinho has won the domestic title with his club 4 years running, and can add a UEFA Cup and Champions League trophy to that. The staunch support he's received from his players these last few weeks, and the glowing comments made by nearly all players who have played under him, suggests he is among the BEST in the business.

Agreed, Mourinho is a good manager even if he is an arrogant knob. The title race is not over either, Man Utd need to get a result to capitalise and unfortunately for them they have to travel to a rejuvinated Arsenal.
