Floating Fox Posted 6 February 2007 Posted 6 February 2007 i have decided, i am skanking my grandad...and going to N block with my brother! i hear the would be news on the site, there still hasn't any more info known? Not yet, We've haven't spoken to the club this week at the moment. If there is any news then I'm sure it will get posted in here first thing
lcfc_jme Posted 6 February 2007 Posted 6 February 2007 Those of you expecting to see something on the clubs website about the singing section... It will be ready and up there on Thursday of this week. I have spoken with the club today and they confirmed this to me. At the minute, this is all I know. However, I should have more information to put up about it tomorrow should you want it.
foss1884 Posted 6 February 2007 Author Posted 6 February 2007 This idea needs to work to finally restore some pride into the Blue Army!
Simi Posted 6 February 2007 Posted 6 February 2007 This idea needs to work to finally restore some pride into the Blue Army! Looks all to be going in a good direction. Hopefully with the marketting on Thursday this will help even more. Although I feel they could of done this earlier for a better impact.
foss1884 Posted 7 February 2007 Author Posted 7 February 2007 Looks all to be going in a good direction. Hopefully with the marketting on Thursday this will help even more. Although I feel they could of done this earlier for a better impact. The club have basically argued that they wanted to keep it in the forefront of supporter's minds leading up to the match and it gives fans 10 days to make the switch, which is plenty of time. I am just glad and grateful that the club are promoting this idea. I am thankful for small mercies! Now, it's the turn of the supporter to show true support and transfer to Block N to create a proper atmopshere with L1 for the M69 derby. Come on! The Sky Blues will not know what has hit them! And remember, if this is a success, more games are in the pipelines and this could be installed as a permanent idea next season!
Thracian Posted 7 February 2007 Posted 7 February 2007 Sounds as if everyone's being as good as their word and it is up to the fans now to show their enthusiasm and give it some impact. Nice too if the whole effort coincided with a rousing win.

Thracian Posted 7 February 2007 Posted 7 February 2007 You're dreaming mate. On both fronts. That might be so but the effort made seems to have had more tangible rsults than the so-called takeover so far!
davieG Posted 7 February 2007 Posted 7 February 2007 If the club were really up for this they could offer every 'mover' an incentive/reward like a voucher to spend in the shop, it would at least emphasise their backing for it and show some commitment to the idea.

Not really, remember, you want people to move there to create atmosphere... not just to go over there to get some incentive/reward and continue not to contribute to atmosphere. Would be completely pointless.

Would be completely pointless. Fair point, I'm just concerned that they won't have enough people there, quite a few seem to be saying I'll wait and see how it goes. What they need is to fill it from the off to give the club a real headache and to come up with a long term solution, which this isn't.
Vestan Pance Posted 7 February 2007 Posted 7 February 2007 I was wondering whether you will be running some sort of membership for this? The last thing we need is a load of people sitting down there for the atmosphere and not contributing (as the 'kop' has). You also mentioned that this will be for fans who want to sing pro-Leicester songs and not slag the opposition, how will you make sure this happens?

What they need is to fill it from the off to give the club a real headache and to come up with a long term solution, which this isn't. I think it is an unfair point to say this is no real solution, as to be honest if there was a real solution, do you not think that it would have been pursued either by us or the club? The "real" solution would be for all supporters to actually support the side rather than just show up. This is a good idea by supporters that care and want to make a difference. Those that are dismissing the notion of a singing section in Block N or waiting in the wings is not helping anyone, let alone supporting the club in any meaningful capacity. As for the idea of offering an incentive, that is absolutely ludicrous to migrate. We are fans and pay to support our side. Do we now have to be bribed to show our passion? I am gladly moving with other supporters as we are frankly fed up. What chance have we got when we have supporters that need bribery to sing? This is an area for vocal fans that wish to sing and want to do so willingly. I have gladly liaised with the club and supported the Ultras since the beginning as i see it as a step forwards, i am just thankful that i know of many others that feel the same!

This is for fans that simply want to create an atmosphere and support the lads. We cannot vet anybody or prohibit certain singing as that would be unfair (atleast at the present stage). A membership idea has been considered and the club have agreed that next season, all being well, that it could be implemented. The main criteria is a desire to sing and being a passionate supporter of Leicester. That should really include us all, but sadly it does not. If you want to make a difference, make the switch and contribute to making some noise!

Exactly, we need as much people really, because if people keep thinkin il see what its like then their might not be a second time. Also someone might want to bump up the confidence of the people on talking balls, although some of them seem very thick.

Supporters need to actually start supporting the side rather than optimistically waiting for goals to come along and wins to be strung together. It is two-way. We cannot expect the players to play well and respond positively if we are not actually giving them any proper encouragement!

I've got a cracking seat behind the Kop End goal but sitting next to largely inanimate fans and feeling guilty if you raise your voice is a turn-off. I sympathise that they've been a long time getting cheesed of and am as keen as anyone to air complaints on here. But match times is a time for unity and for getting behind our team and our players. It's the least we can do and if it just inspires one additional victory in the rest of this season that might be vital to our survival in this division. Funnily enough the question was raised about women being encouraged to get involved but gender isn't the issue it's enthuisiasm and the desire to try and lift the side whatever is happening. I remember my youngest son attending his first few matches and being almost embarrassed that his normally laid-back dad could be so vocal. Now he wears his coliours with pride, cheers with the best of em and grumbles at me if I go a bit quiet on a bad day.

Err I didn't say it wasn't a real solution. I was taking an optimistic view and suggesting therefore that the N block alone is not a long term solution. What happens when you get more than 800 people? What happens when we play cup games and you have to be moved? Heaven forbid: What happens if we start playing entertaining winning football? What happens if we get promoted get full houses again? As for bribery it was an attempt to help kick start the whole thing, (not a weekly payment) based on a number of people saying they will wait to see how it goes, for it to be effective it needs to be successful from the off. If you only get 100 or so people for the cov game this could have negative effect, with people saying oh it's not working.

That is why supporters need to actively embrace the idea because it will take no genius to work out that if not enough supporters do not make the most of this glorious opportunity then it will fail. Absolutely! But, enough supporters have already committed to the idea and will do after the publicity tomorrow for it to have an impact. The scale of the impact i cannot say. However, supporters cannot say that it was not a great idea if not enough supported it in the first place. If supporters want to be able to sing and engage in some banter, here is the club trying to encourage it. We cannot moan about the atmosphere if we are not prepared to do anything about it. The fact remains, whatever the outcome, Block N and L1 will be far louder than The Kop at the game as the majority of the present singers are moving. It will be very surreal in The Kop. That sort of commitment is what will make this idea work. Those that are hesitating are clearly not thinking as a supporter and the enticement of singing is not enough, which is what is on on offer and what the area will be about. Coventry is our focus and hopefully it will be greeted by massive approval. The club then need to consider future games this season to trial it. If 800 seats proves to not be enough to satisfy demand then it is a case of using L1 as an overspill. The club have talked about cup games and relocating the section enturely for such fixtures. This has been discussed previously. It is a case of ifs, buts and maybes. We want to establish the idea first and make it effective, before all possibilities are considered regarding future issues.

Thats a brilliant write up of the situatio Thrac, shows me that there are some people who are quiet due to their surroundings! Lets all go to N block and lets wake these beggers up!

I will go on there and advertise my myspace on ultras which has now got 128 mambers in 2.5 days which i think is a great achievement!

You can't just put 800 people somewhere else for a cup game, likewise you can't just say use L1 as on overspill, are you just going to throw out existing ST holders? It's a typical LCFC approach to things, no one seems to have the ability to think things through and consider the consequences that's why there have been so many cock ups. I'm not anti this I'm just trying to see what could happen if/when you are successful, In my background I've done event planning and know what can happen if things are done at half-cock.
