davieG Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 There was a game (world Cup? - can't remeber) many moons ago when a referee blew up for the end of the first half as the ball was on it's way into the goal, fired in from a corner; in fact it actually ended up in the goal but was disallowed as the ref blew for time as it was going in. Did I just repeat myself

Did I just repeat myself Back in 1970 ish, an english ref was in charge of a Brazil game and blew for full time just before a brazil player nodded in a crucial goal from a corner. He never refereed again at the top level. Is that what you're thinking about?

Number one super guy Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 Brazil v Sweden. I think the incident occurred at the end of the match.

Lineker's Left Foot Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 Maybury was tripped on the edge of the penalty area. Did you see the foul given against Johnson, too, right at the end? He stood with his arms raised while a WBA played rolled over his back and the ref gave a foul to them! We had a good penalty appeal turned down too. Utter shite, whichever club you support. Yes we're never given penalties remember !!
SystonFox Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 only had 1 pen at home this season and how many away? 1 vs hereford in the cup??? on the whistle incident, as far as i can tell it was blown before phillips nodded the ball onto kamara and LCFC players stopped thus allowing Kamara to seem clean through on goal... phillips header could have gone anywhere and it would still have been the end.
Swedging Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 I've seen the final whistle blown just as a corner has been taken before now. If the time's up, it's up. Mmm. Was that the goal that twat Thomas disallowed for Brazil from a corner kick? Pretty much led to referees told to not be so silly and now it's almost always as the ball is kicked upfield.
Strokes Posted 26 February 2007 Posted 26 February 2007 And if he didn't try, he would also be slated. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. You can't make a tackle like that in the box and not expect to get slated, but i must say i was impressed with the way he got on with things and ended up being on of the better performers.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but didn't Phillips go off not long after the hour mark to be replaced by Nathan Ellington?! I agree with what you're saying though. The header could have gone backwards, to the side, up in the air or indeed forwards as it did - Rennie would still have blown for the end of the game.

Did I just repeat myself Im sure that David Platt scored with an overhead kick once on the referees half-time whistle which didnt go down too well . It may have been when he was playing for Villa? Most normal refs like blowing the whistle when the ball is in mid-air following a goalkick but Urinal is such a prat that he does things his own way when he could have settled it 30 secs earlier.
