lookwhaticando Posted 26 February 2007 Share Posted 26 February 2007 Kisnorbo will probably be out by then so we will have to have Stearman, McAuley, Nissa and Maybury Don't say that. Stearman should play at CB, Maybury RB and Nissa LB if that should happen. Although we'll no doubt stick Kenton at CB when he's totally unfit... still. Simi Posted 26 February 2007 Share Posted 26 February 2007 First thing is we need only one change as a result of Nils' absence, not a complete defensive reshuffle. We're playing away so attack will be a long way down the list of priorities and it'll be another variation on the Burnley theme. Hard to beat and grab one if we can. Mandaric will probably have the word "experience" posted on every corridor wall at the club by now so that means Kenton will get the nod despite the fact that he was appalling last time out at left back, is a limited player at best, certainly won't add to our atttacking capability and won't take us forward as a team one bit. Tiatto has an outside chance if he's recovered from injury. I can't imagine he'll be fit but that's not proved a problem for senior players in the past and who else do we have in the 28-35 age bracket? Our only other options are Joe Mattock who will probably be super fit after his recent tournament and Sheehan who had a Reserves game recently so will probably be as fit as he's been all season!. But, unfortunately, both are young and both are attackers which would seem to be a combination that's as welcome as the plague at Leicester right now. Some have mentioned Maybury going to left-back but I've seen enough of that already and, like I say, why make two changes when we only need one?. Second thoughts, I'm sure we'll think of a reason! I agree. Messing with thw whole of the back 4 would be stupid when we could put Kenton there. Maybury is settled at right back now. Why change it. Thracian Posted 26 February 2007 Share Posted 26 February 2007 Surely brinigng in Stearman for Nisse is using one of your younger players when one of the first team gets injured Stearman in a straight swop for Nils would quite possibly be fine. He played there once last season and did perfectly okay, far better than Maybury who is now regaining his form, fitness and enthusiasm at right back and far better than Kenton in his last outing. However, I still have reservations about improvising when we have two specialist attacking left-backs in Sheehan and Mattock. Both have their faults but so do the options and with Kelly bound to play two spoilers in midfield, probably three if he uses Hughes, we'll need full-backs who are capable of supporting attacks and feel natural in doing so. lookwhaticando Posted 26 February 2007 Share Posted 26 February 2007 I've thought of a worse possibility than an unfit Stearman at RB and Maybury at LB... an unfit Kenton at RB and Maybury at LB. I feel like crying.

We haven't sold out yet I'm sure but we'll be close to selling out come the end of the week. Near 2,000 foxes down at Roots Hall close to the pitch should make for a great day out. DB11 Posted 26 February 2007 Share Posted 26 February 2007 I hope Leicester win and they don't start the month badly... Anyway, I'd like to see the team kept the same except Stearman in at RB and Maybes in at LB
Thracian Posted 26 February 2007 Share Posted 26 February 2007 amazing what a few wins does to the attendances! oh yeah and mandaric's appearance Mandaric needs to do some fitness training or get out on the golf course if he's going to take til the end of the season to get round the ground and meet all the fans. Also, knowing Leicester, I'd get round quick while the going's good and while he can still enjoy the eu[phoria of his takeover.

Glen_lcfc Posted 26 February 2007 Share Posted 26 February 2007 Yeah five unbeaten now and only 2 conceded. Not counting Fulham we have only lost twice in 2007 out of 10 games. Not bad. Maybe the 'we are unbeatable chants' chants can begin if all is well at Southend - as some was trying to start in N block satdi !!!

Geo V Posted 27 February 2007 Share Posted 27 February 2007 This is the problem one can always find a reason for not playing them! Fighting relegation! Fighting for promotion! Keeping a winnnig streak going! want to finish the season on a high! The oppo's too good! Can someone give me an example of when it is suitable to début a younger player because I can't work it out? Ive always thought it was best to bring in a new player, regardless of age, when the side is actually confident. Bringing in a young player especially when the side have gone on a stinking run and expect them to raise everyone else is suicidal. I would sling one in now if there is a gap in the team and see how he goes in a team that is unbeaten in 5.
Thracian Posted 28 February 2007 Share Posted 28 February 2007 Sounds like you can rule out Sheehan as a left-back option. Acording to a poster on TB he's bound for Millwall on loan. If true, an important opportunity for him.

Not that I think he shouldn't, I just like to rain on parades. Can't imagine why Millwall would want to pay his wages for nothing. Not that he's ever struck me as a Millwall type player but perhaps even they've worked out that in modern football you'll never get anywhere simply "getting stuck in". Anyway, there's no better stage than London so let's hope he makes the best of it, assuming he goes of course cos there's still been nothing official. Nils isn't certain to be staying so if he leaves than maybe Sheehan can be an option.
Thracian Posted 1 March 2007 Share Posted 1 March 2007 At least he is going to get some sort of first team football there. Maybe Kelly does belive that he can have a future here. Nils isn't certain to be staying so if he leaves than maybe Sheehan can be an option. So far I can see no confirmation of any move by Sheehan to Millwall on either the Leicester or Millwall sites. But in a Mercury article today the inference is that Stearman and Kenton will be the guys in the frame for left-back against Southend. So, once again, a genuine left-back doesn't appear to be in the running. We seem happy to make do and mend. Stearman has played there once under Levein, for part of a match as I recall, and did okay. Kenton played there recently after injury and was appalling. So what will Kelly do in choosing his strongest team? If the Mercury hint is right he'll almost certainly play someone out of position and my bet is Kenton. Why? Because Kenton might have appeared in fewer than half our games this season but he does represent solid defence and that much trumpetted asset, experience. And Mandaric has said loud and clear that he likes experience.
lookwhaticando Posted 1 March 2007 Share Posted 1 March 2007 Let's just hope Kenton's fit enough to play the 90... or we'll have to have another defender on the bench. As if we need any more of them.
