Leicfox Posted 24 March 2007 Posted 24 March 2007      Just in case you haven't seen the updated groups, Scotland are top of theirs Our group has the World Cup winners and runner-up in it and also a team that made the last 8 of the World Cup But atleast we English don't stink of pish.
BartonFox Posted 24 March 2007 Posted 24 March 2007 But atleast we English don't stink of pish. True, but to smell of pish and shite is harsh
lcfc_jme Posted 24 March 2007 Posted 24 March 2007 Weren't we good My vote for understatement of the year.
Tommeh Posted 24 March 2007 Posted 24 March 2007 I'm going to Edingburgh next month and bollocks am I taking my England shirts, to say I'm embarrased with our national team at the moment is an understantement, credit to Scotland they may not have top quality but they do have a bit of passion and pride for their shirt , something that I feel we only have Terry, Gerrard and Rooney show currently

He certainly shows pride for his Liverpool shirt, but as for his England shirt - he just isn't the same. Surely you can see that!

Surely you can see that! like I said I fell asleep after 15 minutes and woke up for the last 10 but what I did see of the last 10 was Gerrard trying to get the team going and showing that he wanted us to win Or Maybe it was just me
Milky Posted 24 March 2007 Posted 24 March 2007 like I said I fell asleep after 15 minutes and woke up for the last 10 but what I did see of the last 10 was Gerrard trying to get the team going and showing that he wanted us to win Or Maybe it was just me Gerrard was the only player trying to take the game by the scruff of the neck

Yes. He did look better in the last 10 minutes but on the right he just looked demoralised.

He did look better in the last 10 minutes but on the right he just looked demoralised. Probably because he's not a right-winger, and he's a better player than Fat Frank who again got to occupy the favoured central-midfield role of Gerrard?
Joe. Posted 24 March 2007 Posted 24 March 2007 My take on the game: 1. Phil Neville. A summary- WHY? <_< 2. Gerrard looked to me the only player who created/ wanted to create anything. There was so much negativity today. 3. The team didn't work hard enough. There wasn't enough passing movement for us to create anything. 4. McLaren subs- what were the point in them? He didn't change the system at all. 5. Lennon. Potentially our biggest threat but was totally non- exixtent second half. McLaren should have told him to run at their left back no matter what. Overall, a poor performance. Half the team looked disinterested. <_<
lildave3 Posted 24 March 2007 Posted 24 March 2007 Probably because he's not a right-winger, and he's a better player than Fat Frank who again got to occupy the favoured central-midfield role of Gerrard? That was actually my point. I don't like Mclaren one bit.
Bryn Posted 24 March 2007 Posted 24 March 2007 At least Sven would score once in a while McLaren is a sack of wank. A right winger on the left, a central midfielder on the right, a centre back at left back, fook knows what Phil Neville is meant to be but whatever he is he's no right back, a fat baz in midfield who blatantly cba with his country, a Canadian German as our best player, I mean I could go on really. Kelly for England, we all know how he likes his square pegs in square holes.
lcfc_jme Posted 24 March 2007 Posted 24 March 2007 That was actually my point. I don't like Mclaren one bit. Even the bit about him being better than Fat Frank? I'm not impressed by McClaren one bit. When Sven was being relieved of duties, I hoped that we wouldn't let McClaren take over the job because I knew how it'd be - McClaren was Svens understudy and so would play the same style of football and games/performances would still be dire. I wanted somebody that didn't belong to the Sven regime.

Didn't take it to be anything homo. I agree, Gerrard is a better all-round player than Lampard, and if I'm honest, I think Lampard is overrated if anything. He fails to capture my imagination as a player, and I generally dislike him. Yes I agree. McLaren is too weak like Sven and Kelly. Team selections baffle like Svens and Kellys, substitutions are poor. The Sven reign goes on... Indeed. I agree very much so. Which is why the picture posted by Dagenham Dave earlier on in this thread amused me quite a bit. Sven - already out McClaren - very thin ice Kelly - OUT NOW PLEASE
Fez of Mahrez Posted 24 March 2007 Posted 24 March 2007 England are just easy to play against. Defend deep, pressure on the ball, mark tightly and there's no plan B. Going away to a place like Israel where it's patently obvious they are going to defend deep and try to keep the game in front of the back four, Johnson is never going to be effective. One of England's main problems at the moment is that they don't have a targetman to hold the ball up or get on the end of crosses. Oh well, I don't really care, saw an absolutely cracking game down at Wembley today. Will have pictures up tomorrow.
Jon the Hat Posted 24 March 2007 Posted 24 March 2007 Yeah, we like lamps Personal Favourite We do, but we think theey should be left on a table in the hall...
lookwhaticando Posted 24 March 2007 Posted 24 March 2007 It's simple really. Lampard seems lost without his Chelski teammates, like Makalelelelelelele. Gerrard is wasted on the right. So while Lampard is all at sea in the middle trying to work out what to do, Gerrard is festering on the right where he's not as influential. When the system don't work, why not change it? Oh yes... that's right... we don't change it because McClaren is a one trick pony. Although, accrediting him with any "tricks" is a bit generous. Worse still, pony is being nice.
Manwell Pablo Posted 25 March 2007 Posted 25 March 2007 I can't work any enthusiasm up to watch any more of McLaren's shit. He and Kelly must be related judging by their approach to the game. That's an insult to Rob Kelly.
Manwell Pablo Posted 25 March 2007 Posted 25 March 2007 Well that was miserable. Keeping possession is good. Having all that possession and not creating chances just makes no sense whatsoever. You can keep the ball for 90 minutes if you want to, but if you don't create chances and don't work the goalkeeper, you won't score. No win and 1 goal in 5 internationals under Sven Goran McClaren. Shockingly disgusting when you consider the talent available. And I'm not not even joking this time, thats an insult to SGE. The way some of you look back on his reign is nothing short of pathetic.
