Ric Flair Posted 27 January 2005 Posted 27 January 2005 This is excellent news, it means that we won't have to pay a team to take him off us like we did with Benjamin. We could well bring 2 players in on the money Keowns on. Good luck Martin, it was nice to have a player of your status playing for us but you've not pulled up any trees and it's best if we all go our seperate ways.

He's only the best defender to ever to play for Arsenal - The Champions.

Scow Posted 27 January 2005 Posted 27 January 2005 I think he could still do an excellent job in the Premiership. If he goes to Southampton, then they've given themselves a good chance of survival.
Solihullfox Posted 27 January 2005 Posted 27 January 2005 The Championship side that's interested is Wolves. Hoddle is apparently keen to "plug" gaps at the back - his words not mine. Not even joined and he's already taking the piss.

Ash Posted 27 January 2005 Posted 27 January 2005 Why wasn't Keown a regular for England then ?If he was Arsenal's Best defender ever ?

Fox in a Box Posted 28 January 2005 Posted 28 January 2005 he signed today, cant play against us thou
Ricey Posted 28 January 2005 Posted 28 January 2005 Good signing for them. Him and Sir Les will do wonders in their attempt for promotion. Glad he can't play against us though.
Matt Posted 28 January 2005 Posted 28 January 2005 Good for them bad for us...our defence is shocking as it is, he is a major part of our defence and without him god help us!
Scow Posted 28 January 2005 Posted 28 January 2005 He'll help them hugely. I fancied Reading for promotion, this has just strengthened their chances. Keown, Sidwell and Ferdinand - A team with a good spine of players.
kenny Posted 28 January 2005 Posted 28 January 2005 Good for them bad for us...our defence is shocking as it is, he is a major part of our defence and without him god help us! 59880 Maybe one of the reasons our defence has been shocking was to do with him. Ive always believed you sign experienced players so that they bring organisation and hopefully stablise the team. Yet with our 'experienced' defenders we have made some really inexcusible errors at the back, eg not marking people at corners. IMO keown is no big loss, will be glad when Dublin goes too.
Mark_ReadingFC Posted 28 January 2005 Posted 28 January 2005 Great signing for us.Despite his age and the different reports I read from Leicester fans,he's a born winner and has plenty of experience in the game and will do wonders for our promotion bid. Lets hope him and Sir Les want to both go out of football with a bang and what better way then to get Reading promoted to the top flight for the first time in our 129 year history.

He looked class at times, but i'm not sad to see him go as he's a short term fix and we need to plan for the future. Good luck to him, I think you owe us a win tomorrow though for allowing you to have him.
Teeno Posted 28 January 2005 Posted 28 January 2005 Adams, Campball and Dixon are all better than Keown.
Guest Daniel Posted 28 January 2005 Posted 28 January 2005 Adams, Campball and Dixon are all better than Keown. 60269 In your opinion. I don't think Dixon was half as good as Keown. Adams wasn't quite as good.
