Leicfox Posted 15 April 2007 Posted 15 April 2007 More than ten years on from its release, Danny Boyle, the film's director, has confirmed that Renton, Begbie, Spud and co will return to the silver screen in a follow-up to Trainspotting. Ewan McGregor, will be reunited with Robert Carlyle, Ewen Bremner and co. Boyle claims that "all the actors" have agreed to reprise their unforgettable roles. Guest Posted 15 April 2007 Posted 15 April 2007 Trainspotting was a classic. The new film could be a huge letdown.
Jay Posted 15 April 2007 Posted 15 April 2007 Trainspotting was a classic. The new film could be a huge letdown. yep have to agree with that, time and place and everything Trainspotting was the film of the time and I am not so sure they could recapture the moment as they say
brookfox Posted 15 April 2007 Posted 15 April 2007 I've read the book, Porno, that the film will be based on. It was practically like reading a screenplay anyway. But basically, if it's based on that it will be almost nothing like Trainspotting anyway. Same characters, very different story!
MC Prussian Posted 15 April 2007 Posted 15 April 2007 I wouldn't mind watching it and then give it a thorough review. Sequels don't have to be worse than the original, although they mostly are.
Milky Posted 15 April 2007 Posted 15 April 2007 Trainspotting was a real let down when i finally got to watch it last year.
stez Posted 15 April 2007 Posted 15 April 2007 Trainspotting was a real let down when i finally got to watch it last year. not wanting to patronise (i hope it doesn't come over as patronising), but trainspotting really was one of those 'had to be there' films. it really was of it's time. the new film should start with renton getting 7 shades knocked out of him for pinching the money, unless begbie's gone all buddhist
Foxes 2 da grave Posted 15 April 2007 Posted 15 April 2007 Great news but some stones should be left unturned. I hope the new film becomes a classic like the original but theres only one trainspotting. But it will be nice to see how Begbie acts to Renton's antics.

But basically, if it's based on that it will be almost nothing like Trainspotting anyway. Same characters, very different story! Porno was a decent enough read I though. It was one of about 12 books I read on my last holiday and probably the one I enjoyed most.

Yeah, I enjoyed it too, haven't read it for a couple of years though.
