Thracian Posted 16 April 2007 Posted 16 April 2007 if we dont dont beat barnsly we are fooked, and i dont see us getting points in the other games, so its a must win at barnsley, can any one see us getting points anywhere else??!!?? Football is never that simple and there are chances of points from any of our games.
Geo V Posted 16 April 2007 Posted 16 April 2007 Its not as simple as that fella. We are two points clear of the bottom 3 and have a far superior goal difference than them. Effectively, we are really 3 points clear. We have a game in hand on them all and in betwenn us and the bottom 3 theer are two more clubs. The fact is, with games running out they all need to pick up points and we may even scrape through by not getting any more! 19 Leicester City 42 11 14 17 45 58 -13 47 20 Barnsley 43 14 5 24 51 77 -26 47 21 Hull City 43 12 9 22 48 64 -16 45 22 Leeds United 43 13 6 24 45 68 -23 45 23 Southend United 43 10 12 21 44 71 -27 42 24 Luton Town 43 9 10 24 50 74 -24 37 Luton - Can only get 9 points which would take them to 46, one less than us so as far as we are concerned, they are down. Southend - Would need at least 6 points from 3 games which include two away from home. They should beat Luton at home but then have to beat one of either Southampton (who need to win last 3 for playoffs) and Plymouth, who have won there last two against relegation threatened clubs. That seems extremely unlikely for them to even catch us on the points stakes. Leeds - They have 3 games left and two are away from home. I must admit there home fans have kept them in the battle as they have won there last 4 games at home but away from home they have mustered just two points from SEVEN games! They seem to need theer home support to get them through but they only have one home game left (against Ipswich) which they should win and then travel to Southampton and Derby. I cant see any points for them away from home with those fixtures. Hull - Just two points behind us but there next two games are away to Cardiff and Stioke before a final home game against Plymouth. I can see more than 4 points for these which would inch them two points clear of us. Barnsley - Same points, worse GD. Out of all of these Im worried about them because they have two games at home from 3 and one of them is against us! They also have Palace and away to WBA. I think they`ll end up finishing above us. I have a feeling we wont get many more points herein but thankfully, due to the rubbish sides below us and the points we have already won, that we will just stay up, maybe ending up 4th bottom.

Geo V Posted 16 April 2007 Posted 16 April 2007 I'd take that!!! so would i mate! Its a weird time of the season where other results are just as important as your own teams! I think that the Southends and Leeds of this world will mess up. Heres hoping!

Have no fear, i've sacrificed 7 goats and 3 chickens to my pagan god, if that doesn't work I may decide to sacrifice the wife!!! I've also been to the local witch doctor who's black magic will hinder those teams below us!!

Flynny Posted 16 April 2007 Posted 16 April 2007 Barnsley's starting to look like a 6 pointer. Might be going. Shame we didn't finish off Leeds when we played them, coming back to bite us in the arse now.

FilboFox Posted 16 April 2007 Posted 16 April 2007 Well looking at the last fixtures mentioned I think that we should now stay up. All the teams below us have hard games except Barnsley and due to the fact that there are 6 teams below us at the moment, I very much doubt that in 3 games 4 teams will jump above us...

Brainy Posted 16 April 2007 Posted 16 April 2007 For some reason I think we'll get a point. If we don't, i'm not bothered.
Strokes Posted 16 April 2007 Posted 16 April 2007 With derby sitting just a point above Birmingham and we really do need them to do over the dirty Leeds, our survival hopes could well lay at the feet of the Sheepshaggers promotion push.
Manwell Pablo Posted 16 April 2007 Posted 16 April 2007 With derby sitting just a point above Birmingham and we really do need them to do over the dirty Leeds, our survival hopes could well lay at the feet of the Sheepshaggers promotion push. And we need to take points of Birmingham
Phlashman Posted 16 April 2007 Posted 16 April 2007 I don't know Derby seem to be doing a fine job of losing points themselves. 2 out of the last 9. If we draw with B'ham then they are in the play-off spots then obviously I hope they get to wembley and lose after going 3-0 up. So we get loads of lovely HD pictures of Derby fans crying. I'd sky+ it and watch it over and over.
Flexx Posted 16 April 2007 Posted 16 April 2007 I can only see Leeds beating Ipswich at home but there other two games are away to soton and derby so i think we'll be alright. And then Southend tough away games at plymouth and soton aswell. There only easy game is at home to luton. Hull have got away games at stoke and cardiff and a tough home game v plymouth. Barnsley have palace and us at home, and west brom away. Plus we have a game in hand so things arn't that bad
Finnegan Posted 16 April 2007 Posted 16 April 2007 Football is never that simple and there are chances of points from any of our games. For once... I agree with Thracian.

lcfc_jme Posted 16 April 2007 Posted 16 April 2007 fook what every other team has got infront of them at the minute, we need to start picking up points and results ourselves. We can't rely on everyone else really. I've maintained for a while that we're not safe and have a good chance of being relegated until we're mathematically certain to beat the drop, and that's the way my opinion stays.

Good analysis - course it can still happen but it's statistically improbable that we will go down. I think Leeds will win v Ipswich at home... if Hull have a rubbish run (they have some tough fixtures after all) then Leeds will stay up. If Hull get points then Leeds may go down. Either way I think (hope) it will be a Leeds/Hull, Southend and Luton bottom 3. Edit: I also think we'll get a point v Barnsley. Honestly, we've got the same squad as we've had all season and we've managed to pick up points here and there from unlikely places (Derby ffs, Brum isn't a write off yet). The season's not over.
