lildave3 Posted 19 May 2007 Posted 19 May 2007 Anyone like??If so what's your fave song? Bob Marley is actually a god. Pure genius. Is this love, could you be loved and No woman, no cry have to be my faves
Libertine Posted 20 May 2007 Posted 20 May 2007 Redemption Song is one of the best songs ever written.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 20 May 2007 Posted 20 May 2007 He is great !! Although a 'pop reggae' artist I still adore 'Could You Be Loved' - with an amazing intro !!!
Leicfox Posted 20 May 2007 Posted 20 May 2007 Redemption Song is one of the best songs ever written. I agree, but only because i can play it on the guitar.
Jay Posted 20 May 2007 Posted 20 May 2007 I personally think he's a good place to start if you want to get in reggae BUT there is far far better to found out there it's one genre you can find so many undiscovered gems!! most of the best stuff was done by producers and studios (sheds) like Lee Scratch Perry at Black Ark Coxsone Dodds at Studio 1,King Tubby and so on many of which featured artists you would never hear again but the likes of Max Romeo, Augustus Pablo, Junior Murvin and many more produced far better songs than Bob Marley
howlinmadmurfdoc Posted 20 May 2007 Posted 20 May 2007 Could you be loved is my favourite, although when i bought his best of it stayed in my cd player for a month!!
the_bowman Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 Rock this party - listening to it now about the only decent song
Daggers Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 I personally think he's a good place to start if you want to get in reggae BUT there is far far better to found out there it's one genre you can find so many undiscovered gems!!most of the best stuff was done by producers and studios (sheds) like Lee Scratch Perry at Black Ark Coxsone Dodds at Studio 1,King Tubby and so on many of which featured artists you would never hear again but the likes of Max Romeo, Augustus Pablo, Junior Murvin and many more produced far better songs than Bob Marley Black Uhuru, Burning Spear, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Misty in Roots, Dennis Brown and Steel Pulse - love the dub! I've got a favourite Marley album - Dreams of Freedom, ambient translations of Bob in dub, which is pretty smooth Three Little Birds is one of my favourite uplifting songs ~ and it reminds me of driving along a switchback Caribbean coastline while my little lad was chucking up all over the car
Unit Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 Redemption Song is one of the best songs ever written. Especially when sung by Joe Strummer. As for me, Iron like a lion in zion and No woman no cry are my favourites.
General Smuts Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 I Shot The Sheriff and Redemption Song. Classics. Anyone see his sons at Glasto? Also very very good.
robbo Posted 30 July 2007 Posted 30 July 2007 yeah Bob marley an the wailers were good, but as others have said its not the be all and end all of reggae, and on the dub side of things, Scientist V The crazy mad professor is a great record
mancunianfox Posted 30 July 2007 Posted 30 July 2007 I like a bit of Bob Marley too although I prefer Dub. Have been listening to Lee Perry at any sunny oppurtunity this summer.
