Id rather me a man old or not Dan than be an imature little kid like you that thinks they own the right to start fights and act hard when really you look like a twat! and people laugh about behind your back.

Grow up and learn to step back from situations and forget it

Alot of the time you are a nice guy but the other you are trying to be a hard man, which you aint

He's not a patch on Defoe or Owen.

63290

In your opinion.

His goal scoring this season is better than Defoe's.

63292

So?

Just because you have some sort of fetish with him, doesn't mean he's international class. Defoe has shown he is a much better player with his all round play, movement, technical ability and skill.

63296

A fetish with him?

Why drop as low as me?

I think it's you have the fetish with Cobbo.

Seem to be right up each othr arse's today and at the game, you actually looked like a couple at the game.

63299

Come and say that to us face to face you little child.

63314

lollollol

And what are you going to do about it?

Jesus, that post made me chuckle.

63317

To be fair dan he would knock your lights out!!

stop trying to be this hard man and the lose the image! grow up

63319

I should hope a 21-22 year old could knock a 17 year olds lights out...

Who started this physical side of the argument?

Arsehole.

63326

Who started anything to do with anything physical?

I've not tried to be a hardman once in this conversation, he was the one who said 'come and say that to my face' kind of thing, like a little chav would say, just because i said my opinion of him, he soon spouts his opinion of me, I dont say 'say it to my face cobbo'.

Search through my 4,000+ posts and see how many times ive tried to be hard, i think you'll find very little.

I'm good at making you chuckle it would seem.

Mate, you're a little gimp, no more, no less. No brains and no sense. Proper ####.

63321

A little gimp?

Jesus, I really dont understand how you can say this, have you not looked in the mirror recently?

Long greasy hair, dress like an old man and probably never had a bird.

Im a gimp? lol

63325

Greasy hair? You seen it properly? Dress like an old man? Please define how an old man dresses then please. And obviously seeing as I have lived in Manchester for 3 years, you will know all about my love life.

All hail Dan.

Well all I can point out is how much negative non-productive and non-constructive posting this generates...I'm not gonna have a go at Dan, as one could just as well have an argument with a door, but this thread is so childish, it's less shameful to watch the league table than to read this <_<

Pathetic Dan.

Anyway moving on...

...Andy Johnson has done very well this season don't get me wrong but he is not anywhere near the quality of Owen, Roooney or Defoe and he never will be.

The thing is, he has scored a lot of goals. But whenever i see him play, he has missed a lot of chances.

I can see were Dan is coming from i do believe if given the chance AJ can make a success at international level but his age will let him down. Defoe on the other hand is younger and faster so i can see why sven would play him over AJ. But if the top 5 forwards were out i wouldnt have thought sven would have any problem in picking AJ

63306

How will his age let him down? He is only 23 (2 years older than Defoe  ) and obviously still sharp and scoring goals. His selection is justified.

well i thought he was older

but as much as i agree on the justification and would love AJ to keep getting selected but has as much chance as Jnr Lewis's statue to be erected in the center of leicester with the words england legend and superstar under.

its obvious sven is only picking him to shut everyone up, just like beatie, ricketts etc. svens got his favourites and when it comes to the qualifiers he'll pick them.

I dont particularly think it matters hugely if Andy Johnsson is an 'average' footballer. If he knocks the goals in for England like he does for Crystal Palace then I dont see a problem.

i agree but its always the same with england managers(cricket and football) they don't like to give anyone they dont fancy a good run of games. it also dosn't help saying he won't drop owen or beckham ever, what encouragment is that to keep their standards up?

And rightly so...why fix something that ain't broken?.. I seem to remember England having one of the best qualifying records since Sven has taken over. They have produced every single time, and have been slightly unlucky in the quarters everytime. Sven is a brilliant manager, one of the best in the world, and if he thinks AJ is good enough, then fine, but on the other hand if Defoe, Owen and Rooney all perform, why break them up?

I'd have to disagree with you on the 'Sven is a brilliant manager' bit...but that's besides the point and I'll save that argument for a more suitable thread

well there's little to argue... his pedigree and the success he has achieved during his career is undoubtable. Just because he has a defensive-minded approach to football shouldn't cloud this fact.

But he's picked AJ, so theres little to criticise him for there...

thing is though dan, andy johnson isnt a great footballer

63310

When you are in the premiership next season...

I bet non of your players manage 15 goals all season let alone half a season...

63316

Marcus Stewart anyone....?

The point is that there is no actual point in him being in the squad. To get into the England front two you have to be better than Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney. They are two of the best players in the world in their position and will be their for the next 10 years.

If you wnat to break intot he England team doing well for yourself is not good enough, you have to show you have the potential to be a world class footballer. If you think AJ has shown that fair enough, but you are being dillusional.

I hear what your saying Trev'ez but remember the England squad is bigger than 11 players. You need back-up in England squads just like you do in any football team. Andy Johnson might be a one season wonder but in a friendly game like tomorrow's it doesn't hurt in them calling him up and seeing how he gets on. If he continues to score for Palace then give him the chance. He's not going to get in above Rooney or Owen in a competitive match but if he gets a chance in the friendlies and does well he could be very useful for England. There are plenty of players in the past who have done the business for National teams when called upon, yet when they arrived in the squad you could say they aren't better than the first choice players so why should they be given a chance?

Vassell has scored one or two important goals for England, now he's never going to be better than Owen or Rooney but the fact he was playing well for his club meant he got a call up and took his chance when he got it. Without him England might not have won against Turkey ay the stadium of light and that could of had a drastic effect on where England are now. All hypothetical I might add, but fringe players in the England squad can serve a purpose.

Good post Hoof.

Although I disagree with Johnson being called up I think it sends agood message to English strikers playing in the Premiership, do well and score goals and you could be rewarded with a call up for England.

Well I'm sure many people would question your assertion that Sven is a brilliant manager after tonights game...we saw the tactical genius that is Sven Goran Eriksson at his very best tonight. <_<
