Fez of Mahrez Posted 27 May 2007 Posted 27 May 2007 Yeah but thers quite a difference between 25k and 65k I mean Rovers took more than the whole game for the Vase. Yes it is to do with the money grabbing cnts. I don't see what the fuss is about. If you supported a very small local side and they got to the FA Vase Final, a trip to Wembley would be one of the best days of your life. You're going to begrudge them that based on a pathological hatred of the FA? Seems like you've lot a bit of perspective to me. It's games like the FA Vase Final that keeps Wembley grounded.
Ashley Posted 27 May 2007 Posted 27 May 2007 Those empty seats are the 'Club Wembley' seats.I'm not sure why that matters, but I think they are. I agree it does look stupid though. Yeh the empty seats are club wembley ones(14,000) of them you have to order them and have a certian ticket to get them included with in your 10 year season ticket if not you have to pay extra ..... Got told this on the tour i went on
davieG Posted 27 May 2007 Posted 27 May 2007 From Sky Wembley chiefs have come under fire after it emerged around 10,000 seats will remain empty at Monday's Championship play-off final between West Brom and Derby. Both sides sold out their allocations of 33,000 for the game which will decide who is playing Premiership football next season, but there will still be plenty of red seats on show. Club Wembley seats, which were sold prior to the new stadium opening on 10-year debentures, take up approximately 17,000 of the capacity. Less than half of these seats will be occupied at the Championship play-off and the others will not be placed on general sale to disappointed fans of the two clubs either. Andy Williamson, chief operating officer of the Football League, hopes this issue can be resolved to ensure a similar situation does not arise in the future. "We are hugely disappointed that Wembley has been unable to find a solution to this problem in the time available and that these seats cannot be sold to genuine fans that have not been able to get tickets," he said. "Nevertheless, we will continue to press Wembley to put plans in place to address this issue for all future Football League events." Officials from both clubs held meetings with stadium chiefs on Wednesday but were unable to come to an agreement on the sale of the empty seats. Wembley stadium managing director Alex Horne put across their side of the argument, insisting the best efforts were made to get as many fans from both sides in attendance. He said: "We offered the Football League an equal share in any revenue from the sale of the available Club Wembley seats in order to fill the stadium. "It is unfortunate that The Football League was not satisfied with the generous offer as it would have maximised the number of fans that could have attended this weekend's games. "We have listened and will continue to listen to feedback from the clubs and from Club Wembley and will take this on board when planning for next year's matches."
Tommeh Posted 27 May 2007 Posted 27 May 2007 I actually thought the club wembley seats would only be for the England games and FA Cup finals, it really is a joke if they sell tickets to hooray henry's on what is a huge day for all football league sides who make it there, meaning some of the real fans can't go and worse the seat "owners" don't even turn up, Joke.

I see where you coming from fez but it just seems daft to hold such a small game at such a large ground every year.
Trumpet Posted 27 May 2007 Posted 27 May 2007 I see where you coming from fez but it just seems daft to hold such a small game at such a large ground every year. But whats the point in having it at a smaller ground? Takes away all the effort they've put in to get to Wembley. Im sure you wouldn't feel the same if you was a supporting fan/ player Anyway, won't look empty on the 16th - get in!
Webbo Posted 27 May 2007 Posted 27 May 2007 you must remember that wembley cost £800 million the FA have to get their money back as quickly as possible to avoid serious financial trouble and these corporate tickets make a huge amount of money for them. Derby averaged much less than 33,000 last season so to say that this is stopping real fans is untrue. Anyway a lot of corporate seats are given away as competition prizes or rewards for employees, you don't begrudge those people do you?

Simi Posted 27 May 2007 Posted 27 May 2007 but surely if they sell the tickets by the match they can make more because then on the bigger games all the tickets would be sold surely I think the corperates bring in more through sponsorship.
Tubes Posted 27 May 2007 Posted 27 May 2007 I think the corperates bring in more through sponsorship. how does it bring in the money though if no one has paid extra for the seat? sorry if im confused here
Ashley Posted 27 May 2007 Posted 27 May 2007 If people get a 10 year season ticket why dont they use it .... i no some of the price bands you have to pay extra for the event you want but the rich people who pay the maxium price and get all events there just letting a seat go to waste ..... Plus all the 2,000 seats in the vip boxes
Webbo Posted 27 May 2007 Posted 27 May 2007 how does it bring in the money though if no one has paid extra for the seat?sorry if im confused here The corporates have paid for these seats in advance, if they don't use them it's their loss.
Joe. Posted 27 May 2007 Posted 27 May 2007 Don't worry about SUAS on here, it's just his war against the F.A
Tubes Posted 27 May 2007 Posted 27 May 2007 The corporates have paid for these seats in advance, if they don't use them it's their loss. but someone siad they have to pay extra for them in the play-offs so surely if they dont then that seat can go on general sale?
Floating Fox Posted 27 May 2007 Posted 27 May 2007 The club wembley seats are only for specific games. They've had to pay extra for the play-offs. Explaining why they are empty
Tubes Posted 27 May 2007 Posted 27 May 2007 The club wembley seats are only for specific games. They've had to pay extra for the play-offs. Explaining why they are empty so if they havnt paid extra then the FA know they will be empty and should put them on general sale.....
Floating Fox Posted 27 May 2007 Posted 27 May 2007 so if they havnt paid extra then the FA know they will be empty and should put them on general sale..... Yes but it's the FA. They're more fcking stupid than A-fox and Foxello put together.
Tubes Posted 27 May 2007 Posted 27 May 2007 Yes but it's the FA. They're more fcking stupid than A-fox and Foxello put together. dont you just love them
Daggers Posted 27 May 2007 Posted 27 May 2007 I see where you coming from fez but it just seems daft to hold such a small game at such a large ground every year. My brothers University team got through to some final of something and played at Luton on the old synthetic pitch. There were about sixty people watching the match. It remains one of his favourite memories. If I supported FC Racing Bovey Tracey I'd be over the fooking moon to be able to go watch them at Wembley. Stop pissing on other peoples chips SUAS - they WANT to play there
sdb Posted 27 May 2007 Posted 27 May 2007 i was at wembley today - beautiful! the whole seating thing is a farce, agreed
Ashley Posted 28 May 2007 Posted 28 May 2007 Just rememberd the second tier aint got no shutters for segregation its just a walk way all the way round
Floating Fox Posted 28 May 2007 Posted 28 May 2007 Just rememberd the second tier aint got no shutters for segregation its just a walk way all the way round How stupid is that though? Building a section with no shutters
Ashley Posted 28 May 2007 Posted 28 May 2007 How stupid is that though? Building a section with no shutters I no its full of champange bars and things on that level
BartonFox Posted 28 May 2007 Author Posted 28 May 2007 How stupid is that though? Building a section with no shutters Pish poor excuse. At the England vs. Scotland game in '99 when Scotland won the last ever game at Wembley in the last century, we were seperated by a few lines of police and stewards, no shutters either. Made for a load of fun at half time as well If they can do it for that game then I am sure they could manage for the play-offs etc... Beside what excuse at the Cup Final?
