An arbitration panel on 18 June will hear the Blades' claim against the Premier League's failure to dock West Ham points over the Carlos Tevez saga. "I firmly believe we will win and the previous decision will be overturned," McCabe told BBC Five Live Sport. Craig Posted 3 June 2007 Posted 3 June 2007 It's a bit like holiday photos! I'd quite like Sheff U to stay up, meaning 21 teams in the prem. That way, it means that Leeds have well and truly fooked up by going into admin when they did, as they'd have stayed up to maintain 24 teams in this division, surely? Or would we have 23 teams?

I can't see that ever happening, The Premier league is a consortium of businesses made of of 20 businesses/teams, it would totally mess up all their legal and financial agreements, in addition The Football League is an independant business organisation who would also resist any changes to league structure based on a potential cock up by another organisation(PL).

If this had happened to us for example or a so called unfashionable northern side you could bet your house on the fact that they would have taken points from us but being a London Club it was never going to happen. Will this change the decision? I highly doubt it BUT the Premier League got this very very wrong imo so good luck to Sheff Utd

One possible solution would be to reinstate Sheffield but keep the Premiership as it is stating that four team will be demoted next season with three coming up. The Champoinship, meanwhile, would play with one team fewer for a season. Even if the premier League then had to compensate the Championship clubs for the loss of earnings for that one fixture it may work out cheaper and less disruptive than having endless legal challenges over the current situation. Just thinking aloud really and suggesting a possibly acceptable solution.

The solution is what the authorities should of done in the first place, dock West Ham points.

I believe that ideas has already been dismissed and I'd be surprised if it happened, on the other hand the shitters running the game today will do anything to save face.

I think they have a good chance of having this matter looked into even further. I'm not sure if the arbitration panel will have the power to deduct WHU points There's obviously been some double standards here and SUFC are fully entitled to appeal. I'd rather WHU stayed up but I have no doubts that they'd have a had a points deduction if they weren't at the time anchoring up the league.

I'd rather WHU stayed up but I have no doubts that they'd have a had a points deduction if they weren't at the time anchoring up the league. I'm referring to an extra team in the Premier not WHU being deducted points.
