Solihullfox Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 I have a blind and diabetic collie, she is quite simply....the best ! Murphy has been with me since she was 8 weeks old (now 13) and has always been great fun. In return for her unconditional love I now look after her injections and the many side effects of diabetes. She is incredible at mind mapping and knows where everything in the house is aswell as the garden and the green in front of our home. We walk for about 2 miles morning and evening along a route that she knows inside out. This includes jumping up and off kerbs without command, many people can't believe she is actually blind. You can probably tell that we all love her to bits.
Daggers Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 Come on the fatdog. I've heard tell that Ultra doesn't need asking twice.

Thracian Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 Part-time dog. My oldest son has a Labrador who seemed so nervous and irritable when he first appeared, wouldn't go near water, reacted badly to certain sounds and other dogs. Twelve months on the dog - which was approaching middle age - is terrific. He swims every chance he gets, seems to understand every word you say, rarely even needs a lead now, is relaxed with other dogs and has a genuinely cheeky personality. Anyway the dog comes to ours about two weeks in eight and is just great to have around. Sets my wife thinking about getting another Shepherd but so far we've steered clear because of the full-time commitment needed. I know though that if I took her a pup home she'd be delighted. It's very tempting and I just can't make up my mind. In many ways I wish she'd worked with animals - she's a real natural. They bring the best out of her.
