Foxhateram Posted 19 June 2007 Posted 19 June 2007 Yup them too!! P.s. Sorry about the double post, but I cannot multi quote (or even quick reply!!) at work! Interesting bebate going on here. PS3 im afraid was made to be a linux PC/media centre at this point, game are coming. infact iv added games to my phone calender and everyone one i want either comes out in october or novemeber, mmmm near christmas . iv really had fun on my PS3 with upsacling games such as tomb radier "dribbles" and fifa 07 which looks slightly better. The announcement of fifa 08 has also excited me, and the graphics look sweet! iv fallen in love with my PS3, infact i messed it up the other day with a weird linux distro i almost had a fit, i fixed iot in the end but bloody hell my heart throbbed and my mind went mad with alarm bells. As for the WII its fun for half hour at a party then it gets boring much like eyetoy, or most nintendo games tbh nintendo died for me after the SNES and it will take alot to win back my heart. MGS 4/ Fifa 08/ GTA IV/ Home/Haze/Rainbow six- las Vegas are just a few of the games that will be ammense for the PS3! the graphics rule, and the gameplay is ammense with real-time explosions and an almosy fully interactive world. Blue-ray is 60GB now unlike hd-dvd that sticks at 15 GB. For developers 60GB means a whole new world of programming space which obviously leads to better graphics, more gameplay, and a more interactive and personalised world. It will take time but Sony's PS3 is far from Dead patiance is a virtue people and if you have it, then it will be us PS3 owners who will be singing by fall next year. By fall next year.......... i predict The Wii- will have lost its woh! The 360- will be selling purely because of halo (as normal) and will update to a blue-ray drive in order to keep up. The PS3- Will have a great list of amazing games, official mac OS's will be up and running, and the PS3 will be your new home media PC. i would just like to say i am not a hater of any of the consoles, i have played every one, i like the wii for a party peice but not as my main console, the 360 is good for halo and media playing, The PS3 i own and i love it dearly, we will rule supreme in the end as we did with the PS,PS1,PS2, and PSP. www.ign.com is a great site to check new information about topics such as these

JoeyB Posted 19 June 2007 Posted 19 June 2007 I know a company who makes a profit on EVERY piece os hardware sold!! I wonder who!??? Microsoft
potter3 Posted 19 June 2007 Posted 19 June 2007 Who cares what company makes what profit/loss, unless you work for them anyway, just buy the console(s) that you want and play games, you don't need to argue which one is better!

I don't trust company's who sell products at a loss, there's something untrustworthy about it... So you don't have any feelings about Forest/Derby/Cov, they all play football. So there's no debate on which is better! Well that settles it then!

They'll run at a lost to penetrate the market with Hardware that can then play the games. Sony will make money back on the games or addiotnal hardware they release.

It's like when supermarkets sell beans and bread for like 2p, they do it to get peopl in their stores and out of others. I think it's called 'loss leading'. It just seems a bit wrong to me somehow! But then I'm odd...
Sly Posted 19 June 2007 Posted 19 June 2007 Exactly! It's like when supermarkets sell beans and bread for like 2p, they do it to get peopl in their stores and out of others. I think it's called 'loss leading'. It just seems a bit wrong to me somehow! But then I'm odd... Yes it's loss leading. Its a long term sales ploy. Another reason as to why an organisation would sell at a loss is to reduce inventory and increase revenue. Makes it attractive from an investors perspective. Ohh as long as you don't mention the profit/loss account. Altough I don't think anyone will be buying Sony anytime soon. What Sony are doing at the minute is skimming the market, they'll set the price high and slowly reduce it, if people (like me ) were silly enough to purchase it on release day then they'll happily take the inflated price for ir. As the price comes down the PS3 or Sony media hub as its also branded will slowly be intergrated in over 50% of homes in the UK. With the extra demand created by the price reductions, they'll also be able to bulk purchase parts which will reduce the overall build cost of the PS3 dramatically. So profit should increase. I wouldn't be surprised to see Sony sell the PS3 at a loss for a further 18 months.
