PAULCFC Posted 19 June 2007 Posted 19 June 2007 Just wondered if their were any golfers on here. Before anyone slags me off,i used to find the game boring and i still rarely watch on t.v.But about 12 months ago i found a bit more time on my hands due to changing jobs and i've been hooked ever since.Still playing off 27 and only using the local muni.
dandannieldanok Posted 19 June 2007 Posted 19 June 2007 Yes I play but still only good enough for pitch and putt.
Stevosevic Posted 19 June 2007 Posted 19 June 2007 Its a brilliant game and IMO the most skilled sport out there. I have a handicap of seven but slipped recently, havn't had the time, looking to start playing more when the weather gets better.
JoeyB Posted 19 June 2007 Posted 19 June 2007 Yes! My handicap is 4 Really? i wish i could be arsed to play golf
Leicester Lass Posted 19 June 2007 Posted 19 June 2007 Really?your as good as my uncle then!! Yes really
PAULCFC Posted 19 June 2007 Author Posted 19 June 2007 So i'm not the only one then!My main handicap at the moment is a slice from driving.Get on great with irons, chipping and putting, but seem to allways follow the left side of the course after teeing off which is annoying!
Durnerz Posted 19 June 2007 Posted 19 June 2007 I've started playing, just down the driving range at the moment improving my tee shots then im going to move onto the other area's of my game, im not the best but I do like it.
Simi Posted 19 June 2007 Posted 19 June 2007 ^^^ I don't mind playing Golf, only on the pitch and putt, very badly.
PAULCFC Posted 19 June 2007 Author Posted 19 June 2007 pitch and putts fun, been to the one at humberstone a few times.
Tommeh Posted 19 June 2007 Posted 19 June 2007 I enjoy a round now and then only play for fun though. Love going late night driving ranges too, great way of letting out frustration after city games
syston_fox Posted 19 June 2007 Posted 19 June 2007 Sorry, right hand side! I have the exact same problem. I started playing again the other week and really enjoying it. Only ever go on the driving range but as someone said, its great for letting off steam. Had the problem today that after a few shots the thumb on my left hand started really hurting and i couldnt grip the club fully on the back swing so all my shots were wild and had no control to them at all. Its such an infurriating game though! One day you can be brilliant and then the next you cant hit the fairway of green to save your life!!
Daggers Posted 19 June 2007 Posted 19 June 2007 My handicap is my set of clubs - they're simply dreadful. I have excellent stance, stroke...the works, and yet every ball I hit goes left or right. Worse, some of them fail to travel any distance at all. As soon as I can afford it I'm going to buy me some really expensive clubs, they'll sort the problem.
Smudge Posted 19 June 2007 Posted 19 June 2007 So i'm not the only one then!My main handicap at the moment is a slice from driving.Get on great with irons, chipping and putting, but seem to allways follow the left side of the course after teeing off which is annoying! It's in the grip and the backswing. For right handed people; you should only see between 2 and 2 1/2 knuckles in the left hand, the crease between the thumb and finger on both hands should be pointing towards the right shoulder. This is whether you use the bardon or interlocking grip. As for the backswing it shouldn't be from outside to in as when you come in contact with the ball the club face will be open and will cause a slice. My handicap is 36 and have never scored less than 100 .............Good Luck
Durnerz Posted 20 June 2007 Posted 20 June 2007 I find as long as you're comfortable gripping the club and in your swing, for example mines different, I tend to draw back halfway and then add the power as I come into the shot and so far my longest drive is 200 yards and it goes straight as well. Each to their own though but I dont believe theres a set way of doing it as everyones different.

potter3 Posted 20 June 2007 Posted 20 June 2007 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xy9GTAENiJA...ted&search= The ball travelled at 186mph
Flexx Posted 20 June 2007 Posted 20 June 2007 Yeah i play quite a lot and i never hook or slice my shots, they just don't go very far

I have a handicap of seven but slipped recently, havn't had the time, looking to start playing more when the weather gets better. Yeah, i agree man, theres so many variables and things to think about compared to other sports. Each part of golf, like putting, chipping, pitching, irons and driving is almost like a different game really. I play off 6 at the minute but going up really, not had time to play with exams and crap. Hopefully when the summer comes, i'll play a lot more cos i love it.
Wezleylowski Posted 20 June 2007 Posted 20 June 2007 Small minded people Golf is awesome. Great game in the summer when there's no footy. And in my opinion as well is the hardest game on the planet
The Reverend Posted 20 June 2007 Posted 20 June 2007 You would have thought that someone that is interested in motor racing wouldnt give such a stereotypical, stupid view (and i have nothing against motor racing, just that its a game that people label as boring the same as golf). Each to their own.
Brainy Posted 20 June 2007 Posted 20 June 2007 I'd rather watch motor racing than men and women walking around a field hitting balls into holes, yet im sure you could say something similar about Racing. Playing golf might not be bad but watching it on TV is something totally different.

Exactly. Each to their own as i said. I just found your 'yawn' very childish.
