Simi Posted 23 June 2007 Posted 23 June 2007 Huge loss to the Premiership, without a doubt. There is a possibility this could backfire on Barcalona. As it did with Real Madrid. As somebody said earlier buying a team of superstars does not equal success straight away. Arsenal played the majority of the season without Henry last year but I'm sure he is still somewhat inspirtational around the training ground etc. If Wenger stays he will need to spend his money wisely to get in a goalscorer.

I'm not so sure he has a big name striker lined up, in the past he's seemed more comfortable spending 250,000 on players like Toure, when he's had money to spend he has bought in players like Jeffers. I really think this could be the end of Wenger at Arsenal.

That said I don't think they will be as bad as people make out - bear in mind they played a large part of last season without him. Wenger is past maturity for arsenal and I think if he had any sense he'd move on. But if thats the case then the Arsenal board will have to act fast!! They need to splash the cash - anyone tell him Hammond's free? We'd have to ask for the full 15mil though.

And before anyone says "Yeah but its the NOTW" remind me, where did the Milan "rumour" start from? Swings and roundabouts, I'm sure they do write there fair enough of shite but the do write the odd bit of true stuff. I just wanna ask the question...Why not risk Walcott, Arsenal paid 11m for him, What for? I'm not sure I may be totally wrong here but how many times has Walcott featured for Arsenal? 3? 4? But IMO prehaps not all season but why not give Walcott the chance, This is his chance to be a top striker, make a name, but no lets go French...Again

You could make the comparison about his transfer fee and Henry's but remember like Ched says, Henry is ageing and Bent is not. Also, Henry will surely command bigger wages than Bent. I think you have to also make the assumption that Barcelona have also scooped a bargain

They now have, Deco, Ronaldinho, Eto, Henry, Messi, Gudjonson and Guily. I can see at least 2 of them leaving.

I think he forgot to mention the huge premium English clubs seem to have to pay for English players. He didnt need to explain to me that Henry was older than Bent, because believe it or not I already knew that !!
