Dames Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 One of my favorite non-city players. But he is past his best and i think Wenger will have something up his sleeve no doubt.
Craig Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 how do you know?do you know something we dont? are they signing eto'o (dont know if thats the correct spelling) Well if you think one player makes a team, so be it. Henry at this stage in his career is replaceable.
Tommeh Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 Big loss to the premiership and a truely world class player, and has been at his peak for the last 5 years. Really struggled last season and a new challenge may be good for him. Arsenal will certainly need to act as with Baptista returning to Madrid and Aliadiere gone they've only go RVP, Adebayor and Walcott all of whom are capable but yet to set the world alight, I'd expect a new world class centre forward to be signed. Is also the exit of their captain which will surely mean Gilberto will take over.
Bryn Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 I'd expect Wenger to not be far from leaving either. At the start of this season, I remember suggesting to someone that 2 of 3 from Fergie, Mourinho and Wenger would be in a different job by the start of the coming season. I wasn't far off I don't think.
Durnerz Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 Just like when Ian Wright left. Wenger will unearth another gem, although that could all change if Wenger goes...

Possibly the greatest Danish talent alongside Agger since the Laudrups and Schmeichel. And Arsenal still have a good side, but they will never win anything without a player like Henry who can turn on the magic and instantly turn a game around.
Nationwider Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 The Premiership will the worse for his absence. Genuine class, in every way. He's going have a job knocking the egos in the Barca dressing room into shape though. Eto'o must be filling his pants... Ronaldinho and (a fit) Henry = the best forward partnership in the world ever???
Joe. Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 This could very easily spell an exit for Fabregas too. Not sure whether it was true but there were reports his Arsenal future would be in some doubt if Henry and Wenger left. With the possibility of both these leaving, Fabregas could possibly be on his way in the near future too

Ronaldinho and (a fit) Henry = the best forward partnership in the world ever??? Don't see why Eto'o and Henry wouldn't play at the same time. But a front line of Ronaldinho, Henry, Eto'o and Messi is going to make me watch as many Barca games next year, that's for sure!
Mikey Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 Shame Henry has gone. RVP gonna be a class player. What a season he was having before he got injured
Tevez Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 I hope to see more of Walcott this year, see what he's worth.
Ultra Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 Henry has been one of the top players in Arsenal and Premiership history. He will not be replaced easily, if at all. Although the gooners will still be a top 10 side next season (with or without Wenger), that would not satisfy the expectations of their fans. And the lack of Champions League revenue in future seasons could have serious consequences for a club still gacing massive debt repayments on their new stadium. Could they be in for a Leeds-style meltdown? Let's hope so!
Rossatron Posted 23 June 2007 Posted 23 June 2007 obv i think they would have likes to keep him who wouldnt, but last season when he was out injured they still played well and if they finished there chances would of came higher in the league. So they need a replacement who can finish and it will be fine
Matt Posted 23 June 2007 Posted 23 June 2007 I hope to see more of Walcott this year, see what he's worth. Thats only gonna happen if Wenger leaves.
Webbo Posted 23 June 2007 Posted 23 June 2007 With or without Henry, Arsenal would struggle to over take Man u and Chelski next season. I agree with HH he is past his best and now is probably the time to cash in. Walcot may come to the fore or Wenger might unearth another undiscovered gem, time will tell.
Wils Posted 23 June 2007 Posted 23 June 2007 those that think Arsenal will struggle next season are in for a shock I agree. One man doesnt make a team and he has got to that stage where he can be replaced. They still have a world class squad and will suprise alot of people.
Unit Posted 23 June 2007 Posted 23 June 2007 It's a massive shame, Henry is one of them players who is pure quality, I never like to admit that I like any player outside of LCFC but Henry is amazing. The premiership will feel pretty dull now. I can't see him doing very well at barca for some reason.
escape2victory Posted 23 June 2007 Posted 23 June 2007 Does this mean either Eto'o or Ronaldinho are off ? Although when they planned on signing him last year they were rumoured to want to change their formation to a 4-2-1-3 with two holding men and Ronnie just behind a front three of Messi, Eto'o and Henry !! With their recent signing of Yaya Toure, who is a very decent holding midfielder, it looks like this may be the case. -----------Toure----Xavi --------------Ronaldinho -------Messi----Eto'o---Henry 07/08 champions league winners anyone ?!
Phube Posted 23 June 2007 Posted 23 June 2007 I agree. One man doesnt make a team and he has got to that stage where he can be replaced. No, you're right as I've said previously Arsenal were always a two-man team, Viera and Henry, since wenger sold Viera Arsenal have won bugger all, but at least Henry kept them competetive. Now without him it's all downhill form here!!! It took Man U three years to get over Bekham going! Ha Ha Ha ... lol
wallin1704 Posted 23 June 2007 Posted 23 June 2007 personally think arsenal will miss him loads he wasn't at his best last season i don't think he is past it just a very long season before. (champions league final, world cup final) i think if arsenal had kept him then this season he would have been on fire thanks to the rest he has had since his injury. also think because of the speculation regarding arsene wenger and real madrid maybe he has had a chat with him and knows something we dont regarding wengers future. i also honestly believe that if wenger goes then arsenal will really struggle, there are mumblings about a few of the players fabregas, adebayor and toure leaving too if he leaves. for me fabregas was the young player of the year last season he has improved so much that if he were to leave and other players such as the ones mentioned do as well then arsenal will be lucky to qualify for europe at all. one player doesn't make a team true and arsenal have an abundance of young talent denilson, walcott, fabregas etc which in the long term will serve them well but looking short term i think without henry they will struggle especially with teams like newcastle, tottenham and possibly even man city all looking like they are investing heavily in players this summer. could be a very long season for gunners fans.

On paper, that makes me drool. But, as Real Madrid have proved over the past few years, a clutch of world-class strikers doesn't necessarily equal a clutch of trophies.
Stevosevic Posted 23 June 2007 Posted 23 June 2007 On paper, that makes me drool. But, as Real Madrid have proved over the past few years, a clutch of world-class strikers doesn't necessarily equal a clutch of trophies. Exactly, football isn't that simple.

But, as Real Madrid have proved over the past few years, a clutch of world-class strikers doesn't necessarily equal a clutch of trophies. True, but the potential is there. On paper, it might just be the most frightening front-line ever. Most of us have to admit that we've dreamt of the day when Ronaldinho and Henry played in the same side. The emergence of Messi just tops it off...
